The Zeeland West varsity baseball team defeated West Michigan Christian 7-0 on senior night as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout.
The Dux tallied six runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles by Stephan Vriezema, Jaden Elenbaas, and Aaron Sleeman as well as a sac fly by Max Hecht.
Brendan Vriezema was the winning pitcher for Zeeland West. He surrendered zero runs on one hit over four and a third innings, striking out seven and walking zero. Kody Bomers and Camden Keatley entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. The win on the mound for Brendan Vriezema is his seventh of the year and a new Zeeland West single season record.
The Dux had nine hits in the game. Aaron Sleeman, Stephan Vriezema, and Caleb Kender all had multiple hits to lead the offensive attack. Zeeland West (27-8) will travel to Forest Hills Northern tomorrow to wrap up their postseason preparations. The first pitch is set for 4:15p.

The Zeeland West varsity baseball team defeated West Michigan Christian 7-0 on senior night as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout.

The Zeeland West varsity baseball team took home a 4-2 victory over Holland on Thursday along with the series sweep.
The Dux got things started in the first inning as Aaron Sleeman doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
Brendan Vriezema led the Dux to victory on the mound. He allowed five hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking one.
Zeeland West tallied eight hits in the game. The offensive attack was led by Camden Keatley who went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI. Aaron Sleeman recorded two hit with a 2B and RBI and Trevor Kilinski had two hits.
The #16 ranked Dux (22-6, 11-4) will travel to NorhtPointe Christian on Friday to take on the Mustangs. The first pitch is set for 4:15p.

Varsity Baseball Wins Two In Holland

The Zeeland West varsity baseball team put up six runs in the seventh on its way to an 11-1 victory over Holland on Tuesday. The Dux offense in the inning was led by Kyle Veersma, Brendan Vriezema, Camden Keatley, Trevor Kilinski, Max Hecht, and Hunter Kleinheksel, all driving in runs in the inning.
Camden Keatley pitched the Dux to victory as he went seven innings, allowing one run on four hits, striking out six and walking zero.
Zeeland West tallied 16 hits in the game. Hecht, Clayton Kuipers, Sleeman, Stephan Vriezema, and Keatley each racked up multiple hits for the Dux. Max Hecht went 3-for-5 at the plate with a 2B and a RBI to lead the Dux offensive attack.
Zeeland West (21-6, 10-4) will wrap up the series with Holland on Thursday afternoon with the first pitch set for 4:15p.

Varsity Baseball Breaks School Wins Record With Win Over Holland

The Zeeland West varsity baseball team continued OK-Green Conference play on Tuesday and Kody Bomers threw a gem as the Dux shutout Holland 10-0. The 20th win of the season for the Dux breaks the schools single season win record and assures the second winning season in school history.
Bomers was sharp on the mound as he surrendered zero runs on three hits over six innings, striking out nine and walking zero.
The Dux racked up 11 hits in the game. Brendan Vriezema, Trevor Kilinski, and Camden Keatley all had multiple hits for Zeeland West. Brendan Vriezema went 3-for-4 at the plate with a 2B and 2 RBI to lead the Dux offensive attack.

Dux Earn Program Sweep On Family Night at 5th/3rd Ballpark

The entire Zeeland West baseball program made their way to 5th/3rd Ballpark on Monday night for their 2nd annual Family Night. The triple-header featured a 5-inning freshman game vs. Hamilton that the Dux won 6-5 and a 5-inning JV game vs. Allegan that the Dux won 6-5. The varsity took on Allegan in the nightcap where both teams were strong on the mound Monday, but Zeeland West varsity team defeated Allegan 3-1.
Aaron Sleeman was credited with the victory for the Dux as he lasted three innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out seven. Kam Visser threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Collin Merryman led Zeeland West hitting attack with two hits in two at bats and Connor Heckel had one hit and one RBI.
The entire evening was made possible by the generous sponsors: Metalution, Alliance Trucking LLC., Matt Sleeman of ReMax Lakeshore, and Lakeshore Storm baseball & softball and the Storm Center. Because of their contributions the baseball student-athletes at Zeeland West, Hamilton, and Allegan were able to have the great experience of playing at 5th/3rd Ballpark.

Varsity Baseball Sweeps Hamilton Series

The Zeeland West varsity baseball team completed the three game sweep over Hamilton High School tonight, 5-1.
The Dux fired up the offense in the second inning as they scored one run off a Brendan Vriezema double.
Brendan Vriezema also earned the win for the Dux on the mound as he surrendered one run on three hits over seven innings, striking out six and walking one.
The Zeeland West offensive attack totaled eight hits in the game. Brendan Vriezema went 3-for-4 at the plate and Trevor Kilinski managed multiple hits for the Dux.
The #16 ranked Dux (18-6, 8-4) will next travel to 5th/3rd Ballpark on May 14 for their annual Family Night. The first pitch for the freshman game is set for 4:00p with the JV and Varsity game to follow.

The Zeeland West varsity baseball team nabbed the lead late in the game in a 10-4 victory over Hamilton on Tuesday in the nightcap of an OK-Green Conference doubleheader. The Dux were down 2-1 in the bottom of the when they went on and secured the victory thanks to ten runs in the sixth inning. The offensive onslaught by Zeeland West was led by Collin Merryman, Stephan Vriezema, Max Hecht, Caleb Kender, and Clayton Kuipers, who all drove in runs.
Camden Keatley led the Dux to victory on the hill. He pitched a complete game, allowing ten hits and three runs while striking out three and walking zero.
Zeeland West tallied two home runs on the day. Max Hecht put one out in the sixth inning and Clayton Kuipers went for the long ball in the sixth inning notching his first career homerun.
Zeeland West collected 11 hits in total. Kender, Stephan Vriezema, Stephan Vriezema, and Hecht all managed multiple hits for the Dux. Kender led the team with three hits in four at bats.
The Dux (17-6,7-4) will take on Hamilton in game three of the series on Thursday in Hamilton with the first pitch set for 4:15p.

The Zeeland West varsity baseball team jumped out to an early lead over Hamilton and took home a 10-5 victory on Tuesday. The Dux scored on a walk by Jaden Elenbaas and a double by Trevor Kilinski in the second inning.
The Dux aslo notched five runs in the fifth inning. The offensive firepower by Zeeland West was led by Max Hecht, Aaron Sleeman, Brendan Vriezema, and Collin Merryman, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Kody Bomers earned the win for the Dux as he lasted six innings, allowing seven hits and five runs while striking out six. Caleb Kender threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Zeeland West racked up 13 hits. Kilinsk, Sleeman, Vriezema, and Merryman each racked up multiple hits for the Dux. Kilinski led the offensive attack with three hits in four at bats.

In the championship game of the Family Fare Wooden Bat Tournament, host Zeeland West snatched the lead late in the game in a 2-1 victory over Allendale on Saturday. The game was tied at one with the Dux batting in the bottom of the sixth when an error scored one run for Zeeland West.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Zeeland West pitchers struck out ten in the winning effort. Camden Keatley earned the victory on the mound for the Dux as he went three innings, allowing zero runs on two hits, striking out three and walking zero. Kody Bomers started the game for Zeeland West and he allowed two hits and one run over four innings, striking out seven and walking one
Max Hecht led led the Zeeland West offensive attack with two hits in three at bats.
Zeeland West is now 15-6 (5-4) on the season and will continue OK-Green Conference play on Tuesday when they take on the Hamilton Hawkeyes at Zeeland West. The first pitch is set for 4:00p.

Two Call Ups Get It Done On The Mound

The Dux returned to the field on Saturday for the Family Fare Wooden Bat Tournament hosted at Zeeland West. This was the 12th year of the tournament and the 12th time that Family Fare has sponsored the event. Instead of the usual metal bats, all players in the tournament were required to use wooden bats. Using the wooden bats created a great atmosphere for baseball on a Saturday afternoon that had temperatures reaching the upper 70's.
Two players who have spent the season on the junior varsity were called up on Saturday to help give some pitching depth to the Zeeland West varsity baseball team. Sophomore, Marshal Acosta, got the start for the varsity Dux and didn't allow a single run as Zeeland West defeated Allegan 13-0 on Saturday. Acosta went three innings, allowing zero runs on two hits and striking out five. His JV teammate, Travis Vredeveld, pitched in relief to preserve the shutout as he went two innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, two walks, and two strike outs.
The Dux secured the victory thanks to eight runs in the third inning. The rally was led by triples by Collin Merryman and Max Hecht, doubles by Max Hecht and Caleb Kender, and a single by Aaron Sleeman.
The Dux racked up 15 hits. Sleeman, Trevor Kilinski, Hecht, Connor Heckel, Dillan Guzman, and Kender each managed multiple hits to round out the Dux offensive attack.

Varsity Baseball Beats #1 Ranked Holland Christian

Both teams were strong on the mound Thursday, but the Zeeland West varsity baseball team defeated #1 ranked Holland Christian 3-1 on Thursday afternoon.
The Dux got things started in the first inning when Caleb Kender grounded out, scoring one run.
Brendan Vriezema led the Dux to victory on the pitcher's mound. He surrendered one run on seven hits over seven and a third innings, striking out five.
Aaron Sleeman went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Zeeland West in hits. The Dux were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error.
Zeeland West (13-6, 5-4) will host the Family Fare Wooden Bat Tournament on Saturday with games at 10a and 12p. The Dux will take on the Allegan Tigers in game one.

The Dux evened things up at one in the bottom of the first inning when Max Hecht singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run. The Dux pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning.
Camden Keatley led the Dux to victory on the pitcher's mound. He surrendered three runs on four hits over five innings, striking out two and walking zero.
Brendan Vriezema led the Zeeland West offense with two hits in two at bats.

Zeeland West Takes The L After Slow Start

Despite a 4-run deficit in the sixth inning, the Zeeland West varsity baseball team almost came all the way back, eventually falling 4-3 to Holland Christian on Tuesday. The Dux managed three runs in the failed comeback. Caleb Kender and Max Hecht came through with RBIs to lead the rally.
Zeeland West couldn't keep up with Holland Christian early in the game. Holland Christian took the lead on an error in the first inning scoring two runs for Holland Christian.
Kody Bomers took the loss for Zeeland West on the mound. He surrendered three runs on two hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out six.
Kender, Hecht, Trevor Kilinski, Aaron Sleeman, and Clayton Kuipers each managed one hit to lead the Zeeland West offensive attack.

Dux Beat Unity Christian

The Dux defeated Unity Christian 12-6 thanks to a strong start in game three of the OK-Green Conference matchup. The Dux scored on a single by Brendan Vriezema in the first inning, a double by Trevor Kilinski in the second inning, and a stolen base by Aaron Sleeman in the second inning.
The Dux collected 12 hits and Unity Christian had 11 in the high-scoring affair.

Zeeland West lost the lead late in a 5-4 defeat to Unity Christian on Friday. Unity Christian trailed 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning when VanderPloeg singled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.
In the first inning, the Dux got their offense started. Aaron Sleeman's sac fly scored two runs for Zeeland West Dux varsity baseball team.
Unity Christian scored three runs in the fifth inning. The big inning for Unity Christian came thanks to singles by VanderGoot and Hoeksema.
Camden Keatley took the loss for Dux on the mound. He surrendered five runs on ten hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking zero.
Trevor Kilinski went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Dux offensive attack.

Dux Complete DH Sweep of Fennville

Brendan Vriezema had the hot hand on Wednesday, tallying four hits and leading Zeeland West to a 16-1 victory over Fennville. Vriezema singled in the first, singled in the second, singled in the third, and tripled in the fourth.

Trevor Kilinski was clutch at the plate with dux on the pond on Wednesday, driving in five on three hits to lead Zeeland West past Fennville 24-1 on Wednesday. Kilinski drove in runs on a triple in the first, a groundout in the second, a triple in the third, and a double in the fourth. The Dux tallied nine runs in the fifth inning as Max Hecht, Collin Merryman, Branch McGeehan, Kody Bomers, Dillan Guzman, and Hunter Kleinheksel each had RBIs in the frame.
Dillan Guzan earned the win for the Dux on the mound. He allowed three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out three.
The Dux managed to racked up a season high 21 hits. Hecht, Kilinski, Guzman, Merryman, Clayton Kuipers, and McGeehan all managed multiple hits for Zeeland West. Max Hecht went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Dux offensive attack.

Oakridge scored three runs in the third inning, but the Zeeland West varsity baseball team still won 12-5 on Friday.
The Dux notched six runs in the fifth inning and put the pressure on, lead by singles by Clayton Kuipers and Dillan Guzman, a walk by Aaron Sleeman, and a double by Kam Visser.
Collin Merryman earned the win for the Dux as he went two and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on three hits and striking out three. Dillan Guzman threw four and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen. Guzman recorded the last 13 outs to earn the save for Zeeland West.
Brendan Vriezema went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Zeeland West in hits and the Dux didn't commit a single error in the field.

Thursday's game against Unity Christian was a heartbreaker for the Zeeland West varsity baseball team, as they lost the lead late in a 3-2 defeat.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Unity Christian pitchers struck out seven, while the Dux pitchers sat down four.

24 hours after recording his first career home run to help lift the Dux over the Chix, Caleb Kender threw his first career no-hitter as he didn't allow a single hit as the Zeeland West varsity baseball team defeated Hopkins 5-0 on Friday.
The Dux took an early lead as a Max Hecht single drove in a run. Even as Zeeland West recorded 10 hits, the one run was all they needed as Kender surrendered zero runs on zero hits over seven innings, striking out eight.
Kender, Hecht, and Aaron Sleeman led the offensive attack in game one as each recorded two hits. Kender had two RBI and Conner Heckel added an RBI on a single in the fifth inning. Clayton Kuipers, Dillan Guzman, and Kam Visser rounded out the offensive attack with one hit each.

Varsity Baseball Sweeps Hopkins

The Zeeland West varsity baseball team defeated defeated Hopkins 8-2 on Friday to complete the doubleheader sweep. It was a timely eight runs in a big fifth inning that finally broke the game open for the Dux.
In the fifth, Cam Keatly singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. The Dux would complete their offensive attack 10 batters and 7 runs later as they built an 8-1 lead.
Collin Merryman was the winning pitcher for Zeeland West as he lasted five innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out six and walking one. Dillan Guzman and Trevor Kilinski entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Calbe Kender, Max Hecht, Cam Keatley, Trevor Kilinski, and Aaron Sleeman all had one hit to lead Zeeland West. For the second game in a row, the Dux were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error.

Varsity Baseball Wins Series Against Zeeland East

The Zeeland West baseball team snagged a late lead and defeated Zeeland East 5-4 on Thursday. In the top of the third inning, Zeeland West came back from down three when Caleb Kender hit a 2-run homerun which was the first of his career. A single by Jaden Elenbaas tied the game up at three. The game was tied at three with the Dux batting in the top of the fifth when Collin Merryman singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Aaron Sleeman went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Zeeland West in hits. The Dux tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Brendan Vriezema led the way with two.
Camden Keatley got the win for Zeeland West. He surrendered three runs on five hits over five innings, striking out one and walking none. Brendan Vriezema threw three innings of relief out of the bullpen to record the save.
The win gave the Dux (5-1,2-1) the OK-Green series win over Zeeland East. Zeeland West will be right back on the field as they travel to Hopkins High School to take on the Vikings in a Friday afternoon doubleheader. First pitch is set for 4:00p.

Dux Baseball Drops Game Two

Tuesday's game against Zeeland East was a heartbreaker for the Zeeland West varsity baseball team as they lost the lead late in a 6-3 defeat. The game was tied at three with Zeeland East batting in the top of the sixth when Zach Degraff singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
Zach Degraff was the winning pitcher for Zeeland East. He surrendered three runs on five hits over four innings, striking out seven. Bayn and Cochran entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Caleb Kender took the loss for the Dux as he went three and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on zero hits and striking out three.

Dux Baseball Wins Series Opener Against East

The Zeeland West varsity baseball team was victorious over Zeeland East on Tuesday afternoon, 4-1. The Dux got on the board in the first inning as Brendan Vriezema singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.
Kody Bomers took the win for Zeeland West as he went all seven innings, allowing one run on four hits, striking out seven and walking zero.
Adam Berghorst took the loss for Zeeland East. He surrendered three runs on five hits over five innings, striking out seven.
Brendan Vriezema led the Dux offensive attack with two hits in three at bats. Defensively, the Dux were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error.
Game two of the three game series was postponed because of darkness and will be completed on Thursday. Game three of the series will follow the conclusion of the postponed game. The Dux (4-0) will square off against the Chix at 4:15p on Thursday at Chix Field.

Zeeland West Sweeps NorhtPointe Christian

The base paths were crowded today for both offenses in a high-scoring game where the Zeeland West varsity baseball team came out on top against NorthPointe Christian, 12-8.
In the first inning, NorthPointe Christian got their offense started as they scored two quick runs. In the top of the second inning though, the Dux tied things up at two as an error scored two runs for Zeeland West.
Zeeland West pulled away for good with one run in the third inning when Trevor Kilinski hit a solo homer and then they went on to score six more runs in the fourth inning. The Zeeland West offense in the fourth inning was led by Kilinski, Caleb Kender, Aaron Sleeman, and Kam Visser, all knocking in runs in the inning.
Brendan Vriezema was the winning pitcher for Zeeland West. He allowed five hits and four runs over four innings, striking out two. Dillan Guzman threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Zeeland West collected ten hits. Kilinski and Sleeman each racked up multiple hits for the Dux and Kilinski went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the team in hits. Zeeland West also stole five bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Kilinski led the way with two.
The Dux (3-0) will wrap up their March non-conference schedule tomorrow, March 27, as they travel to Covenant Christian High School to take on the Chargers at 4:15p.

Kody Bomers didn't allow a single hit as the Zeeland West varsity baseball team defeated NorthPointe Christian 9-0 on Monday in game one of a doubleheader at Davenport University.
The Dux fired up the offense in the first inning, when Trevor Kilinski singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. Zeeland West then tallied three runs in the third inning. The third inning offensive onslaught by the Dux was led by Kilinski, Caleb Kender, and Camden Keatley, who all drove in runs.
Bomers was the winning pitcher for Zeeland West as he allowed zero hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking zero.
Zeeland West tallied ten total hits. Killinski, Clayton Kuipers, and Aaron Sleeman all collected multiple hits for the Dux. Kilinski went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Zeeland West in hits.

A walk-off home run led the Zeeland West varsity baseball team past Calvin Christian High School 7-6 on Friday. The Dux trailed 6-5 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Max Hecht homered on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs and giving the Dux the opening day victory.
Bats blistered as Zeeland West collected seven hits and Calvin Christian tallied eight in the high-scoring game.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Zeeland West tied things up at five when Kam Visser doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. The Dux had notched three runs in the fifth inning as Hecht and Aaron Sleeman each had RBIs in the frame.
Caleb Kender got the victory on the mound as he surrendered one run on one hit over two innings, striking out two and walking zero. Brendan Vriezema started the game for the Dux going three innings, allowing three runs on two hits and striking out three and Kody Bomers threw two strong innings in relief. "Our pitchers were great today and gave us a chance to win," said head coach Adam Locker, "I am very proud of their work on the mound."
Zeeland West racked up seven hits in the game. Even as Max Hecht went deep with the game winning two-run homerun, the offensive attack was led by Trevor Kilinski who went 3-for-4 with a double and a triple. Aaron Sleeman also had a multi-hit game for the Dux as he went 2-for-3 with a triple and 2 RBI. Kam Visser rounded out the Dux offensive attack with a double.
The Dux (1-0) continue their early season non-conference schedule at Davenport University on Monday, March 26 as they take on Northpointe Christian High School in a doubleheader at Davenport's Farmer's Athletic Complex. The first pitch of game one is set for 5:00p with game two to follow.
