Thursday's game against Unity Christian was a heartbreaker for the Zeeland West varsity baseball team, as they lost the lead late in a 3-2 defeat.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Unity Christian pitchers struck out seven, while the Dux pitchers sat down four.
Caleb Kender took the loss for Zeeland West. He surrendered one run on three hits over two innings, striking out one and walking one. Kody Bomers started the game for the Dux and allowed five hits and two runs over five innings, striking out three.
Zeeland West totaled eight hits in the game with Stephan Vriezema and Trevor Kilinski each managing multiple hits.
