Zeeland West goes to the 8th inning in a tie against Spring Lake before falling 2-3

On May 8, 2025, the Dux lost to the Lakers 2-3 after going into overtime due to being tied 2-2 by the 7th inning. Varsity Coach Bryce Muller said, “We’ve been showing so much improvement, and we’re so close, and the biggest thing that I’ve been impressed with is they haven’t stopped believing in themselves.” Both Soph. Logan Nash and Sr. Lucas Smith scored runs within the game. Muller continued, “We're gonna be scary by the end of the year, they all believe it, and I know it. I was really proud of their fight. They don’t quit.” Smith pitched for 8 innings and had a 107-73 pitch-to-strike count and faced 33 batters. Smith said, “It’s unfortunate how it plays out sometimes, but overall it was a great game.”
