Girls 7/8 Creekside Soccer vs. Holland Middle School

The 7th grade girls soccer team lost a heartbreaker yesterday by a score of 2-1. The lone goal for the Dux came off the foot of Abby Nash. In net for the Dux was Rylee Smith. Overall the Dux played a solid game, Abby Nash, Greta Hondorp, Rachel McFall, Emily Overweg and Kayla Wyrick controlled the pace of play for the Dux and gave the ladies many scoring opportunities. On defense, Audrey Caywood, Mya Bouwman and Lindy Sattayana kept the ball out of their end. The ladies finished their season with a 6-4-1 record. Way to go Dux! The 8th grade soccer team ended their season on a high note with a 2-0 victory over Holland. In the first half Emma Boersma got the scoring started, finishing a cross from Kayla Bosch to put the Dux up 1-0. In the second half Marissa Ybarra scored the Dux second goal, firing a shot into the top right corner of the goal. Jadyn Keatley and Samarah Arendsen combined for the shut out in goal. The Dux finish their season with a 7-4 record overall. Great season Dux!

The 8th grade soccer team defeated Muskegon on Monday night by a score of 10-0. The Dux were dominant in all phases of the game. Marissa Ybarra scored a hat trick for the Dux, while Bella Hoffer added two goals. Lindsey Peterson scored one goal and had a great cross which forced an own goal off a Muskegon defender. Also scoring were Ally Yonker and Ruthanne Zuber, and Abby Habers.

The 8th grade soccer team played in a defensive battle vs Grandville middle school, ending in a 0-0 tie. The weather rapidly changed from windy to rainy to sunny until finally a flash of lightning cut the game short. The Dux defense led by Abby Habbers and Lindsey Peterson did a great job limiting the opportunities for the visiting Bulldogs. Jadyn Keatley recorded her second shut out of the season in goal.

The 7th grade girls soccer team dominated a heated battle between cross town rivals Cityside. Kayla Wyrick and Emily Overweg kept the ball pinned down in Chix territory while several ladies made great passes and crosses into the box. The Dux connected on a couple of their winning combinations and putting the ball into the back of the net was Greta Hondorp and Rylee Smith. In the end the Chix fought back and put a couple of their own shots in ending the game in a 2-2 draw.   The 8th grade soccer team defeated crosstown rival Cityside on Wednesday 2-1.  The first half was action packed as all three goals were scored before halftime. The Dux scored first on a right footed blast by Marissa Ybarra. Later in the first half, Cityside was able to equalize tying the game 1-1. Marissa Ybarra scored the winning goal as her shot from distance managed to find its way between the goalkeepers legs and into the back of the net.  The second half was a defensive stalemate. The Dux shut down their opponent to preserve the 1 goal victory. Creekside plays today in their third game in as many days vs Grandville MS.

The 7th grade girls soccer team rolled West Ottawa yesterday by a score of 9-1. Scoring for the Dux was Ana Flores, Greta Hondorp, Rachel McFall, Maggie Martin, Rylee Smith, Kayla Wyrick, and Abby Nash. Tending goal for the Dux was Desi Kuyers. Way to go ladies! The 8th grade soccer team lost a tough game vs West Ottawa on Tuesday. The Panthers were aggressive early in the match scoring two quick goals. Just before halftime, the Dux started to swing the momentum when Ally Yonker took a cross from Kayla Bosch and buried a shot in the side netting. The Dux kept that momentum going into the second half scoring again to tie the game. Ellie Merson made a great run down the left sideline and beat the goalie near post for the goal. West Ottawa was able to break through the Dux defense one final time, scoring on a fast break to win 3-2. The Dux play @ rival Cityside on Wednesday.

The 7th grade girls soccer team lost a hard fought battle to Zeeland Christian school on Thursday by a score of 3 to 0. The Dux had multiple scoring opportunities but couldn't capitalize. The Dux defense held strong and Desi Kuyers had another good showing in the net. Keep up the great work ladies.  The 8th grade soccer team defeated Zeeland Christian on Thursday 4-1. In the first half Ellie Merson made an immediate impact, as she fired a goal into the side netting just minutes after entering the game. Also scoring for the Dux was Grace Zuber who was able to knock the ball past the keeper for her first goal of the season. Kayla Bosch made an impressive run out of the midfield and played a beautiful cross into the box which forced a Zeeland Christian defender to deflect the ball into her own net for the goal. The Dux 4th goal was scored by Ellie Merson for her second goal of the game.    In the second half Zeeland Christian scored a late goal, but the game was already well in hand. The Dux played a great defensive game with Jadyn Keatley and Emma Boersma sharing the goalkeeping duties.

The 7th grade Dux were right at home last night in the cold wet weather as the Dux splashed their way to another victory on the soccer pitch. Riley Smith was as smooth as butter dribbling through defender after defender and netting 3 as in 1, 2, three! goals for the Dux. Greta Hondorp pounded the 4th goal home as the Dux took Jenison 4 to 2. Playing an outstanding game on the field was Abby Nash, Rachel Mcfall, and Keyla Wyrick. Way to go Dux! The 8th grade soccer team defeated Jenison 2-1 on Tuesday night. The weather was very cold and rainy, but the Dux overcame the conditions to earn the victory. In the first half, the Dux and Wildcats were evenly matched with a 0-0 score at halftime. The Dux came out fast in the second half score two early goal to take a 2-0 lead. Marissa Ybarra scored both goals for the Dux. Jenison scored a goal with 20 seconds to go in the game, but it was too little too late for the Wildcats. The Dux defense was led by Abby Habbers, Lindsey Peterson and Jadyn Keatley; all played an excellent game nearly earning the shutout.

The 7th grade girls soccer team defeated Black River yesterday by a score of three to one. Desi Kuyers was stellar in goal for the Dux while Ana Sanchez and Riley Smith contributed goals for the team. Great Hondorp, Kayla Wyrick, Audrey Caywood and Emily Overway played some all around great games for the ladies. Way to go girls.

The 7th grade soccer team suffered their first loss of the season to a strong Byron Center squad. The lone goal for the Dux came off the foot of Kayla Wyrick. Playing a solid game for the Dux was Abby Nash, Audrey Caywood, Rachel McFall, Greta Hondorp and Riley Smith.  The 8th grade soccer team fell to Byron Center 2-1 on Tuesday. Creekside got off to a good start scoring the first goal of the match. Samantha VanDort scored the goal for the Dux assisted by Emma Boersma. To finish the half Byron Center was aggressive on offense, but a great effort by the Creekside defense was able to hold them off. In the second half, Byron Center was able to score a goal to tie the score. The score remained tied for a long period of time with both team missing on close chances. With 5 minutes to play, and the ball bouncing around inside the 18 yard box, Byron Center deflected in the winning goal. The Dux nearly tied the game in the last seconds, but the final shot went just wide.  The Dux will play again on Tuesday @ Jenison Middle School. 
Girls 8th Grade Creekside Soccer vs. Holland Christian Middle

The 8th grade soccer team lost to the Maroons of Holland Christian on Tuesday by a score of 3-1. In the first half, Holland Christian struck early gaining a 1-0 lead at the 10 minute mark.    Soon after that Ellie Merson ran past the opposing defense and blasted a shot at the Goalkeeper. The keeper saved the first shot, however the rebound came right back to Ellie and she was able to head the ball into the back of the net for the equalizer!  Holland Christian added another goal before the half to go up 2-1. The Dux played well in the second half with many near misses at goal, but were unable to close the gap. The Maroons added an insurance goal in the last 5 minutes to make the final 3-1.  The Dux are back in action vs Byron Center next week on Tuesday.

Creekside 7th grade girls soccer team downed the River Rats of Black River yesterday by a score of 6-2. Desi Kuyers tended a muddy goal box holding the opponents to just two goals. Scoring for the Dux was Mya Bauman, Kayla Wyrick, Greta Hondorp, Ana Sanchez, and Riley Smith with her usual two goals.  Way to go girls!

  "The 7th grade girls soccer team defeated Hudsonville yesterday by a score of 5-0. Goals for the Dux came from Kayla Wyrick, Greta Hondorp, Mya Bauman, and Riley Smith added two. Another stellar performance by defenders Abby Nash, Rachel McFall, and goalie Desi Kuyers kept Hudsonville scoreless. Way to go Dux!"   The 8th grade soccer team defeated Hudsonville Riley on Thursday by a score 4-0. The Dux controlled the pace of the game with great defense, and strong midfield play. Jadyn Keatley played well in goal earning her first shutout of the season.  Marissa Ybarra got the Dux on the board early in the first half with a right footed blast past the Hudsonville goalkeeper. Later in the first half, Emma Boersma scored the Dux second goal with an assist by Katie Kaynor. In the second half, the Dux were awarded a penalty kick for a handball in the 18 yard box. Ally Yonker stepped up and confidently delivered to make the score 3-0. The fourth goal of the game was scored by Ellie Merson on a penalty kick of her own after being fouled in the penalty area.    The Dux are back in action on Tuesday at Holland Christian.
