Boys Cross Country race well at the Ottawa Hills Invitational

This past Friday the Zeeland West boys cross country team headed to Grand Rapids to compete in the Ottawa Hills Invitational held at Riverside Park. The team continued to show that they are a competitive team in West Michigan as they finished 3rd in the varsity race behind two of the top 5 teams in Division 1 (Portage Central and Traverse City Central). Both Nate Golding (15th) and Caleb Smith (23rd) earned medalist honors in the filed of 142 runners. In the JV meet the team also place a strong 3rd behind Traverse City Central and Portage Central. Medalist Honors were earned by Reid Cousins (15th), Joseph Till (17th), Jonathan Greenhoe (18th), Liam Hallack (19th), Ethan Dalman (20th), Andrew Dalman (21st) and Brady VerBeek (25th).

Zeeland West Boys Run Strong at the West Ottawa Invitational

Saturday the Zeeland West boys cross country team showed that they are one of the top teams in the Region with a 2nd place finish in both the varsity and JV races at the West Ottawa Invitational. The team had 21 course PRs on the day along with 8 season best times. The varsity team finished in 2nd place (86 pts) behind a strong Grand Haven team (53 pts) in the field of 20 teams. Chase Holwerda, Caleb Smith, Nate Golding, Robert Dodd, Keagan Smith and Carson Hauch earned medalist honors as they finished in the top 30. The JV team added to the team accomplishments by also placing 2nd (39 pts) behind Holland Christian (32 pts) out of a field of 12 teams. Earning medals for the JV were Reid Cousins, Jonathan Greenho, Andrew Dalman, Liam Hallack, Ethan Dalman, Brady Verbeek, Dom Cranmer, and Howie Herrygers. Congratulation on all of the team accomplishments this week!
Zeeland West Boys Cross Country Conference Jamboree

The Zeeland West Boy's Cross Country team kicked off their conference season with a strong team performance at Johnson Park. In the jamboree, the Dux ran to a solid 1st place finish (29 points) ahead of runner up Mona Shores (71 points). Chase Holwerda lead the way with a 2nd place finish followed by 7 more teammates less than a minute behind. This top end performance allowed the team to place 8 runners in the top 15. The team will be in action again this Saturday at the West Ottawa Invitational. GO DUX!!
