The freshman volleyball team defeated Reeths Puffer HS (19-25, 25-22, 16-14) in a three set thriller. Similar to the first match up vs the Rockets earlier this season, the Dux dropped the first set before taking the second and the third set for the win. Both teams are equally matched, but the Dux proved to be more consistent down the stretch in the second and third set. The Dux will finish their season with a 9-1 conference record and 11-12-2 record overall. The freshman volleyball team took care of business in their conference matchup vs Mona Shores. Similar to their first matchup, the Dux won in two sets 25-15, 25-21. This was a full team effort and was a great win. The Dux are now 8-1 in conference play and 10-11 on the season. The Dux have a quad in Hudsonville on Thursday before their final home game of the season next Tuesday. Go DUX! Due to ZW Varsity drawing Union HS in the first round of the conference tournament, the freshman team got to play Union HS for the second time in a row. The Dux participated in the Freshman Lakeshore Classic today in Grand Haven. The Freshman Dux took care of business in tonight's conference match vs Wyoming winning 26-24, 25-17. The Freshman Dux stay hot in conference play defeating Reeths-Puffer High School in 3 sets (21-25, 25-8, 15-10).  After falling short in the first set, the Dux woke up and came out firing on all aspects in the second set. Big serving runs by Alyssa Lucas and Amaya Brott lead the Dux to a commanding 25-8 second set win. The Dux stayed hot in the deciding 3rd set taking it 15-10 to improve to 4-1 in conference play and 4-7 overall. The Dux bounced back from their quad yesterday with a big conference win vs Mona Shores High School (25-12, 25-19). The Dux started out the first set in a convincing manner with strong defense and big serving runs by Alyssa Lucas and Jaedyn Sharda. The second set was a different story with the Dux playing from behind most of the set. The Dux went 0-3 today in their home quad today. 23-25, 21-25 vs Grand Haven, 11-25, 9-25 vs Hudsonville, and 13-25, 14-25 vs West Catholic. The Dux traveled to Muskegon High School and left with a win 25-8, 25-13. The girls freshman volleyball team lost to Zeeland East in 3 sets (25-15, 19-25, 13-15 for their opening OK Green conference game.  The Dux dominated the first set thanks to Alyssa Lucas who served 6 in a row to close out the first set. The second set was back and forth, but ZE took control in the end. ZW freshman volleyball team opened their season with 3 losses to Unity Chr (17-25, 18-25), FHE (20-25, 14-25), and TK (18-25, 21-25).  In the first game, ZW hung around with a strong Unity Chr team thanks to scrappy defense by Amaya Brott and strong hitting from Lily Habers. Alyssa Lucas and Sydney Fowler led the 6-2 offense well and Megan Levandoski proved vital on the opposite side.  In the second game, ZW had a strong showing from Serena Smith and Abby Smolinski at the service line and Leah Keuning and Aivrey Deglopper had a strong showing defensively vs FHE.  The third game was back and forth and ZW put up a strong fight. In the second set the Dux found themselves down 6-14 early on and fought back to a 16-16 tie before falling just short vs TK. Rylie DeVries, Addie Reddick, and Amaya Brott led on the offensive side while Jaedyn Sharda and Maggie Brower led in digs for the team.  The Duxs are looking to fix their mistakes and get a tally in the win column vs Zeeland East at home on September 8 at 5:00pm.
