ZW freshman volleyball team opened their season with 3 losses to Unity Chr (17-25, 18-25), FHE (20-25, 14-25), and TK (18-25, 21-25). 

In the first game, ZW hung around with a strong Unity Chr team thanks to scrappy defense by Amaya Brott and strong hitting from Lily Habers. Alyssa Lucas and Sydney Fowler led the 6-2 offense well and Megan Levandoski proved vital on the opposite side. 

In the second game, ZW had a strong showing from Serena Smith and Abby Smolinski at the service line and Leah Keuning and Aivrey Deglopper had a strong showing defensively vs FHE. 

The third game was back and forth and ZW put up a strong fight. In the second set the Dux found themselves down 6-14 early on and fought back to a 16-16 tie before falling just short vs TK. Rylie DeVries, Addie Reddick, and Amaya Brott led on the offensive side while Jaedyn Sharda and Maggie Brower led in digs for the team. 

The Duxs are looking to fix their mistakes and get a tally in the win column vs Zeeland East at home on September 8 at 5:00pm.
