Lose: 0.00 - 1.00
The Dux JV Boys Soccer team lost a hard fought battle to rival Holland, 0-1. "We got off to a slow start, and they scored off their first corner. Despite the slow start, I thought we possessed well through the midfield and kept their attacking players from being too dangerous. Holland is a good team, and we hung with them most of the match."

Boys Junior Varsity West Soccer vs. Allendale High School

Win: 3.00 - 2.00
In Saturday soccer action last week, the JV Dux soccer team defeated Allendale 3-2. The Dux jumped on the front foot and dictated play for much of the game, frustrating Allendale from the opening whistle. Just before the 5 minute mark of the first half, Isaac Lambrix received the ball at the top of the box and laid it back into Owen Frego who bent the ball into the far post giving the Dux a 1-0 lead. Snaider Sanchez made it 2-0 in the second half after beating the keeper with a nice 1v1 move off of an assist from Dakoda Glennie.
Allendale made it interesting by scoring 2 goals in the final 10 minutes to knot the score at 2-2. The difference in the match came with less than 2 minutes to go, as a Dux player was fouled just outside the Allendale box. Dakoda Glennie's ensuing free kick found the back of the net to secure the win with less than a minute to play.
"Our midfield did a great job of pressing and winning their individual battles. Defensively, we were solid all game and limited their opportunities. Max Zeedyk and Connor Kolodizieizyck played great in goal. Today showed how resilient this group is and battling to the very end and finding a way to win."

The Dux controlled much of the midfield and were dangerous several times in the attack.
"Great effort and energy throughout the entire match against a strong Zeeland East team. We were able to control the midfield for much of the game, and really did a nice job of maintaining possession. Our defense was stout and limited the number of good opportunities they generated. Really proud of our boys tonight!"

The Dux JV boys soccer team lost 0-6 in non-conference action last night against a strong Byron Center squad. "We started slow and never really recovered against a fast and dangerous team. As the match wore on, we were able to connect a little better but never really found much rhythm offensively. Defensively, we got better, but need to continue focusing on communicating and staying connected."

Lose: 1.00 - 1.00
The ZW boys JV soccer team battled Wyoming to a 1-1 draw in their home opener Tuesday night. The Dux took an early 1-0 lead into the half after Christian Lichtenwalner got in behind the Wyoming back line and slipped a ball back across the front of the goal for a tap in by Isaac Lambrix. Both teams fought to hold possession through the midfield throughout the match, with both teams generating scoring chances. But strong defensive performances by both teams kept the score 1-0 well into the second half. Wyoming scored the equalizer with about 8 minutes to go in regulation to earn the draw.
"Defensively, we continue to gain confidence and are becoming more cohesive as a unit. Our midfield did a decent job of linking play and holding possession, but we struggled with the final pass. Their keeper made 3 huge saves in the second half to keep the game close. Overall, we managed a physical game really well against another quality opponent. Our energy was great and our movement both on and off the ball got better as the match wore on. Proud of our boys tonight."
The Dux are 1-0-2 on the season and return to action on Wednesday as they travel to Byron Center.
