Zeeland West Varsity Dux took Thursday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 7-4 walk-off victory over Grand Haven Varsity Buccaneers. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the seventh when Maddi Veersma doubled, scoring three runs.

Veersma drove in four runners in the win. The center fielder went 2-4 on the day.

Grand Haven Varsity Buccaneers opened the scoring in the first after Bri Borgman doubled, scoring one run.

Emily Kragt grounded out, which helped Zeeland West Varsity Dux tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.

A double by Lorelei Chciuk gave Grand Haven Varsity Buccaneers the lead, 2-1, in the top of the third.

Veersma homered to center field, which helped Zeeland West Varsity Dux tie the game at two in the bottom of the third.

Zeeland West Varsity Dux took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. A steal of home scored one run, to give Zeeland West Varsity Dux the leg up, 3-2.

Zeeland West Varsity Dux committed an error, which helped Grand Haven Varsity Buccaneers tie the game at four in the top of the seventh.

Madison Wyckoff earned the win for Zeeland West Varsity Dux. The righty allowed eight hits and four runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out 13 and walking two. Abby Frank took the loss for Grand Haven Varsity Buccaneers. The pitcher went one and one-third innings, giving up three runs on two hits, striking out none and walking two. Borgman stepped in the circle first for Grand Haven Varsity Buccaneers. The hurler gave up seven hits and four runs (three earned) over five innings, striking out 10 and walking none.

Veersma and Bri Kamer each collected two hits for Zeeland West Varsity Dux.

Wyckoff also collected her 300th career strikeout in the top of the seventh.

Zeeland West Varsity Dux will travel to Jenison High School to face off with Zeeland East for the district semifinals on Saturday at 12pm.
