Zeeland West Varsity Dux Loses Lead Early in Defeat

Zeeland West watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 14-8 loss to Lakeview Spartans on Wednesday. The Spartans scored 8 runs in the third inning to pull away with the lead.

Alexa Brott started on the rubber for Zeeland. Brott allowed four hits and five runs over two and a third innings, striking out three. Maddie Wyckoff and Emily Kragt entered the game from the bullpen, thorwing four innings and two-thirds of an inning.

Zeeland Dux tallied nine hits with two homeruns on the day. Kragt had a long ball in the fifth inning and Carly Sleeman followed suit in the bottom of the seventh. Morgan Patrick, Sleeman, and Kragt each collected two hits to lead the offense for Zeeland West.
