Zeeland West Varsity Dux Grabs Lead in Sixth Inning to Defeat LakeView Spartans

LAKEVIEW HIGH SCHOOL: 7
Zeeland West Varsity snatched the lead late in the game in an 8-7 victory over Lakeview Spartans on Wednesday. The game was tied 7-7 in the bottom of the sixth when Alexa Brott drew a walk, scoring one run.
The Dux fired up the offense in the first inning when Carly Sleeman homered on the first pitch of her at bat, scoring two runs. The Dux tallied 11 hits on the day with multiple hits by Sleeman, Kadrian Niefert, Izzy Zamora, and Brott. Sleeman went 3-4 at the plate to the lead the team in hits.
Maddie Wyckoff toed the rubber for Zeeland. The righthander surrendered seven runs on ten hits over seven innings, striking out seven Spartans.
