Dux Varsity Softball falls to Allendale 4-5

In the second game of the quad in Allendale, the Dux were looking forward to a rematch with the Allendale Falcons. They had previously lost to the Falcons in extra innings in Whitehall. Unfortunately, the Dux came up short again and lost to Allendale 4-5 in a back and forth good game.
Dux opened in the first scoring two runs. Lily Brower homered, and Carly Sleeman scored a fly ball hit by Taylor Zwagerman. Allendale answered and tied in the bottom of the second. Dux went up in the fourth inning when Jordyn Smeyers drove in Zwagerman. Falcons went up for good with a three run homerun puts them up 5-2. Zwagerman pulled the Dux within one by hitting a solo homerun in the sixth inning,
Dux defense had a fantastic double play that ended a Falcon threat in the bottom of the first when Brower tossed to Sleeman at second to Smeyers at first.
Pitchers for both sides had good games and held the other team to only four hits. Alexa Brott took the loss for the Dux pitching six innings, striking out one, and walking four.
Dux record went to 15-3 on the season.
