Dux Varsity Softball wins battle against Covenant Christian 15-12

COVENANT CHRISTIAN HIGH SCHOOL: 12
The opening game of a quad in Allendale saw the Dux battling back and forth with Covenant Christian. The Dux eventually pulled ahead with a nine run sixth inning to win 15-12.
Dux Offense sent twelve batters to the plate in the sixth inning rally. Every player in the line up contributed in hits in the victory. They were led by Carly Sleeman who went 4 for 5 just shy of hitting the cycle with two singles, a double, and a homerun. Alexa Brott was 3 for 4, Lily Brower and Taylor Zwagerman both had two hits. Freshman Morgan Patrick hit her first High School homerun. Jordyn Smeyers and Addision Verplank each contributed doubles, and Emily Brands had a single.
Brands earned the victory on the mound. She threw 6 1/3 innings, allowing 12 runs on 14 hits, striking out 5 and walking 3. Alexa Brott came in and collected the save pitching 2/3 of an inning facing two batters and getting the final two outs.
Dux improved to 15-2 and looked to face off again against Allendale, who they had previously lost to in extra innings.
