Varsity Dux Softball beat Whitehall in the final of three games on Saturday afternoon in Whitehall. Dux took the lead in the second inning and scored in four of the seven innings to beat the Vikings 9-3.

Alexa Brott got the win on the mound throwing all seven innings, giving up three runs on 3 hits, striking out nine and walking one. Alexa had great control and did a great job getting ahead on the batters and then being able to throw the pitches she wanted. 

Dux offense was led by senior Elexia Fuentes who went 3 for 4 with three doubles and driving in two runs. Sophomore Carly Sleeman and Junior Emily Brands each had two hits and two RBIs as well in the victory. Brott helped with the bat as well as on the mound contributing a hit and RBI. 

Dux defense stayed hot for the last game of the day despite a few errors. They turned a nice 6-4-3 double play with Lily Brower to Carly Sleeman to Jordyn Smeyers to end an inning right after committing an error.  Another key defensive play was the Dux catching the Vikings trying to take an extra base after an error in the fifth inning on a ball hit to the right side. ."This team really picks each other up. They don't dwell on mistakes. They know to 'shake it off' and get ready for the next play. The best part is the ball can be hit to anyone on the next play and they all want to make it happen for each other."

Dux improve to 6-2 overall and travel to Wyoming on Tuesday for OK Green Conference play.
