The Lady Dux came from behind in the fifth to force the game into extra innings and won in the bottom of the eighth with a walk off double from Maddie Sliva to beat Thornapple Kellogg 3-2 in the double header opener.

Thornapple scored first in the top of the fourth with a lead off walk, sacrifice to move the runner and two Dux errors allowed Thornapple to go ahead 2-0.

The comeback in the fifth started with Katie Bruursema getting hit by the pitch. Shyanne Cooper sacrificed bunted her to second. Brinzie Kalkman singled to center to put runners on the corners. A wild pitch allowed Bruursema to score and move Kalkman to second. Lily Brower came up and singled to left field to score Kalkman and tie the game at two. 

Seven innings ended tied at 2. In the top of the eighth with international tie breaker starting a runner on second, the Dux turned a double play with a line drive to Kenzie Siersma who threw to Courtlyn Merryman to complete the play and end the threat. Next batter then popped out to Merryman.

Dux came up with a runner on two as well. After a lead off strike out, Sliva hit the walk off double to win the game.

Sliva earned the win on the mound. She pitched eight innings allowing two runs on three hits, striking out four and walking three. She held the Trojans at bay all night and left six runners stranded on base.

Morgan Rush, Siersma, Sliva, Kalkman, and Brower had the hits for the Dux.

Sophie Zelenock was good behind the plate keeping the ball in front of her, and caught two runners attempting to steal second base in the game.

Dux improved to 7-2 on the season.
