The Dux couldn't get their bats going and struggled to shut down a strong Calvin Christian team on Tuesday night losing their first game of the season 10-3.

The Dux pitching had a tough time with Calvin's hitters who put up 16 hits including 6 for extra bases. They were very disciplined at the plate and were hitting away from the Dux defense. Maddie Sliva took the loss for the Dux pitching three innings allowing five runs on eight hits, striking out one and walking zero. Kenzie Siersma came in relief pitching four innings allowing five runs on eight hits, striking out two and walking one.

Calvin jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Dux answered back scoring two in the bottom of the first inning to tie. Calvin pulled away in the third and the Dux only managed to plate one more before the final inning. Dux had hits from Brinzie Kalkman, Sophie Zelenock, Lily Brower, and Morgan Rush.

The Dux travel to Coopersville on Wednesday for a double header starting at 4pm.
