After several rain cancellations, the lady Dux were finally able to take the field tonight. They were ready for the task in their first conference game of the season against Unity Christian. The Dux played a solid defensive game to win 4-0.

Maddie Sliva got the win on the mound by pitching all seven innings allowing no runs on three hits, no walks and striking out six. She had complete support behind her from the entire team who only committed one error on 35 total chances. Defense was led by Kenzie Siersma with 6 assists and followed by Katie Bruursema who had 4. Cortylnn Merryman started the defense off right with a great catch in center field on the first Unity batter. It set the tone for the Dux defense.

Dux Offense was led by Siersma who had two hits including a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Dux up 1-0 and they never looked back. They added another 3 runs in the top of the fifth inning by Brinzie Kalkman getting a single and with two outs Sliva, Siersma, and Sophie Zelenock each singled and recorded an RBI to put the Dux up 4-0.

The Dux improve to 3-0 on the season and play at home tomorrow night against Zeeland East in a double header starting at 4pm.
