The Zeeland West Varsity Wrestling Team placed 4th out of 10 teams after going 3-2 at the Holland Tim Horn invite Saturday morning. The Dux defeated Hanover Horton 45-24, Forest Hills Eastern 66-6, Kenowa Hills 45-34, but the Dux fell to Allegan 54-21 and West Ottawa 50-30 in the championship round. Going undefeated on the day were Jrs. Aiden Chavez and Sam Taylor. Going 4-1 were Sr. Justin Sanchez and Jr. Austin Ulberg. Going 3-2 were Jr. Jackson Burkhour, Frs. Daniel Lozano and Camden Stryker. 

Varsity Head Coach  Cody Stewart remarked, “We competed well as a team today. We ended up placing 4th out of 10 teams as well as having 2 wrestlers on our team go undefeated. Our goal by the end of today was to compete hard, place top 5, and finish our day in the dome.” 

Burkhour mentioned, “I did [well] during my matches today. During my last match, I tried my best to go at it and push through with everything I had and finish off strong.”

Over at Northview the girls faced off against some of the best girls in the state! Emmaline Kouw and Rozlyn Altamira placed 4th, while Madi went 2-2 and fell of short of placing. The Dux return to action on Wednesday at home for senior night against Zeeland East and Wyoming! #godux @duxsports_
