The Zeeland West Wrestling beat West Catholic 60-24 and Unity Christian 57-24 at West Catholic Wednesday night. Going undefeated on the night were Sr. Justin Sanchez, Jrs. Jackson Burkhour, Aiden Chavez, Sam Taylor, Lachlan Thoreson, Austin Ulberg, Sophs. Jovan Compean, Frs. Madi Galaviz and Luke Walters. 

Varsity Head Coach Stewart commented, “Our goal coming into this league meet tonight was to come out 2-0 and we did. It’s nice to see a good competition right after Christmas break. I saw lots of improvement from these practices. Practices translated to winning matches.” 

Taylor mentioned, “My match was good. No matter what the guy looked like, I wanted to wrestle my best. I told myself to not think about who the person was so I could focus all I can do to win.”

The DUX came into the match confident, wrestled confident, and left West Catholic with confidence of their first win this season last night. 

Our junior varsity team Wednesday night also went 2-0 last night alongside our varsity team. Going undefeated last night was Sr. Gahel Segovia, Frs. Owen Hicks and Nate Chavez.

The JV Dux heads to Holland on Friday for a JV invitational. On Saturday the girls head to Grand Rapids Northview Girls invite, and the varsity goes to Holland for the Tim Horn invite. #godux
