Boys Varsity West Wrestling vs. Zeeland East High School

Last night the Dux walked the PATH to face off against Zeeland East and Coopersville. The Dux fell short in an exciting back and forth dual against Zeeland East 41-36 and Coopersville 55-21. Going 2-0 on varsity tonight was Sam Taylor and Antowine Phabmixay! Going 1-1 was Seth Frye, Nate Machiele, Brody Smeyers, and Gerrit Hartman. Going 1-0 was Keagan Cornell. On JV going 1-0 was Keagan Cornell and Jakob Brower. The Dux will be hosting the OK Green Conference tournament on Saturday at 9 am. The JV team will be heading to Coopersville on Friday for the JV OK tournament. The Dux traveled overnight to Shepherd HS Individual Tournament. We battled through a tough tournament placing 16th out of 24 teams. The Dux traveled to West Catholic tonight for an OK Green match up with Muskegon & a dual vs Fruitport. Lost a close one to Muskegon (42-39) & to Fruitport (45-27).  Going undefeated on the night for varsity: Sam Taylor (2-0), Christian Sam (1-0), Antwoine Phabmixay (2-0) and Brody Smeyers (2-0). 1-1 on the night of for varsity: Kham Phothisan, Alexis Cerrtios, Seth Frye, Geritt Hartman, and Evan Walters. Tonight the Dux traveled to Mona Shores for an OK Green conference match. The Dux defeated the Sailors 55-21 and fell to the Lakers of Spring Lake 59-14.    On Varsity going 2-0 was Kham Phothisan, Nate Machiele, and Gerrit Hartman. Going 1-1 was Brody Smeyers, Evan Walters, Austin Ulberg, Alexis Cerritos, Jackson Burkhour, Alex Karn, and Troy Postema.   On JV going 2-0 was Jakob Brower, and 1-0 was Keagan Cornell. Going 1-1 was Roberto Rodriguez, Jakoby Moore, and Robert Dodd.   The Dux will return next Wednesday at West Catholic against Muskegon and Fruitport.   #brickbybrick

Winning matches on varsity tonight were Justin Sanchez, Kham Phothisan, Austin Ulberg, Robert Dodd, Noah Quick, Seth Frye, Troy Postema, Nate Machiele, and Brody Smeyers. Winning matches on JV was Jarett Sal, Jakoby Moore, Roberto Rodriguez, Robert Dodd, Christan Sam, Luke Marsman, and Alex Karn. On Saturday the Varsity team wrestled in the Adam Provencial Invitational at Grand Haven. The Dux finished 14th out of 17 teams. Going 4-1 and taking 5th was Kham Phothisan. Going 3-2 and taking 6th place was Brody Smeyers. Also going 3-2 and placing 7th were Aidan Chavez and Evan Walters. The JV team also wrestled on Saturday at East Kentwood. Going undefeated and placing first were Sam Taylor, Keagan Cornell, and Antwoine Phabmixay. Taking 2nd was Jarett Sal. Great job today boys! Tonight the Dux hosted Wyoming and Hamilton. Tonight was also our Senior night where we were able to honor our five seniors Keagan Cornell, Noah Quick, Evan Walters, Seth Frye, and Nate Machiele.  In the varsity matches tonight the Dux defeated Wyoming 67-9 and fell to Hamilton 72-6. Going undefeated on the night was Aiden Chavez. Going 1-1 was Kham Phothisan, Justin Sanchez, Robert Dodd, Alexis Cerritos, Jackson Burkhour, Izaac Overweg, Noah Quick, Seth Frye, Troy Postema, Nate Machiele, and Brody Smeyers. On JV going 1-1 was Sam Taylor, Luke Marsman, and Jakob Brower. The Dux varsity team will wrestle again on Saturday at Grand Haven for the Adam Provencial memorial invite and the JV team will wrestle at East Kentwood. #brickbybrick

Today the Dux wrestled in the Military Appreciation invitational at Coopersville High School. The Dux went 1-4 as a team in some exhilarating duals!    Round 1 the Dux fell to Kent City 39-33. Round 2 the Dux fell to Wayland. Round 3 the Dux fell to Coopersville 57-24. Round 4 the Dux defeated Ravenna 77-5. Round 5 the Dux fell to Sparta 40-30.   Going undefeated was Evan Walters. Going 4-1 was Nate Machiele and Keagan Cornell. Winning 3 matches was Aiden Chavez, Kham Phothisan, and Alex Karn.   The Dux return home on Wednesday against Wyoming and Hamilton for Senior Night!   #brickbybrick

Tonight the Dux traveled to Holland High to face off against the Dutch and Unity Christian. In the first round, the Dux fell to Holland 48-26 in the OK conference match. In the second round, the Dux defeated Unity Christian 55–24. Going undefeated on the night were Kham Phothisan, Justin Sanchez, Seth Frye, Nate Machiele, and Brody Smeyers. Going 1-1 on the night was Sam Taylor, Austin Ulberg, Izaac Overweg, Noah Quick, Gerrit Hartman, and Evan Walters. The Dux will wrestle at the JV Ottawa county classic on Friday at Grand Haven at 4 PM. Varsity will wrestle on Saturday at the Ottawa County Classic at Zeeland East at 9 AM.  #brickbybrick

Today the Dux hosted the Gene Kraai Memorial tournament. The Dux finished 1-3 today and took 6th place. In round 1, ZW defeated Watervilet 45-36. With a come-from-behind victory! In Round 2, ZW fell to West Ottawa 42-33 in a dual that came down to the last match. In round 3, ZW fell to a very tough and talented Hamilton team 65-15. In the final round, ZW fell short to Hopkins 40-36. Going 4-0 on the day were seniors Seth Frye and Evan Walters. Going 3-1 were senior Nate Machiele, sophomore Brody Smeyers, and freshmen Christian Sam. Going 2-0 was sophomore Justin Sanchez. Huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day happen from table help, officials, parents, various other community members, and the fans who came out to support! The Dux will wrestle on Wednesday for their next OK conference dual against Holland and Unity Christian at Holland High School at 5 PM.  #brickbybrick
