Girls Varsity West Tennis vs. Byron Center High School

Lose: 1 - 7
The Dux hosted the Byron Center Bulldogs to finish up their conference match season.  Despite some tough battles at multiple flights the Dux fell to the Bulldogs 7-1.  The first doubles team of Maggie Sims and Olvia Creevy battled to extend the match to a 3rd set but ended up falling in the 3rd.  The 2 doubles team of Alyssa Smith and Katie Sims were the lone winners on the night picking up a straight set win to earn a point for Zeeland West.  The Dux next host Reeths Puffer on May 8 at 4:00 pm.

The Dux of Zeeland West faced a tough Holland Christian team on Wednesday falling to the Maroons 8-0.  A few of the bright spots of hte match was the team of Katie Sims and Alyssa Smith at 2 doubles.  Winning the first set 6-4, but ultimately falling in in the next two.  The 1 doubles team of Maggie Sims and Olivia Creevy took and early 5-2 lead in the first set but were not able to maintain their momentum eventually losing in 2 sets.  The Dux will next travel to Jenison on Friday, April 27 to take on the Wildcats in a non-conference match.

The Zeeland West Girls Varsity Tennis played another conference match traveling to Hamilton to take on the Hawkeyes.  Despite strong efforts across many flights the Dux fell 3 to 5.  The Dux were lead with victories by the 2 doubles team of Alyssa Smith and Katie Sims, the 3 doubles team of McKenna Schafer and Riley Hughes, and the 4 doubles team of Abby O'Connell and Erin Vriezema.  The Dux will next host Holland Christian on Wednesday, April 20th at 4 pm.

The Zeeland West Girls Tennis Team traveled to Fruitport high school to take on the Trojans on Friday.  The Dux were lead with victories by their 2 doubles team of Alyssa Smith and Katie Sims, the 3 doubles team of McKenna Schafer and Riley Hughes, and the 4 doubles team of Abby O'Connell and Erin Vriezema.  Two other matches also went the distance going 3 sets with the Dux falling just short with Annabel Coatney at 2 singles playing a tough match as well as the 1 doubles team of Olivia Creevy and Maggie Sims.  The Dux will next travel to Hamilton for a conference match against the Hawkeyes on Monday.

The Zeeland West Girls Tennis Team traveled to Holland High school to take on the Dutch of Holland High for a reschedule match on Thursday April 19. The Dux, despite a strong effort, lost the match 3-5.  The three points were picked up with victories at 1 doubles (Olivia Creevy/Maggie Sims), 3 doubles (Riley Hughes/McKenna Schafer), and 4 doubles (Erin Vriezema/Abby O'Connell).  Despite the loss, the Dux continue to show improvement and hope to continue that momentum moving forward.  West will next travel to on Friday, April 20 for a non-conference match against the Trojans of Fruitport.

The Zeeland West Girls Tennis Team traveled to East Kentwood to take on the Falcons of EK and the Wildcats of Northview.  Zeeland West played both opponents tough but lost both matches by a score of 3-5.  The Dux were lead with two wins by the 2 doubles team of Alyssa Smith and Katie Sims as well as Riley Hughes and McKenna Schafer.  Picking up one win on the night were the 1 doubles team of Olivia Creevy and Maggie Sims as well as the 4 doubles team of Erin Vriezema and Abby O'Connell.  The Dux will next host Byron Center on Monday, April 16.

The Zeeland West Girls Tennis Team hosted the Unity Christian Crusaders Wednesday night for their first conference match of the season.  Despite a solid effort at many flights the Dux ended up losing the match 2 to 6.  The two wins came from Victoria Moore at 2 singles (6-4) (6-3) and the 1 doubles team of Maggie Sims and Olivia Creevy (6-7) (6-1) (7-6).  The Dux will next travel to East Kentwood for a non-conference match on Thursday, April 12.

Win: 6 - 2
The Zeeland West Girls traveled to Wyoming to take on the Wolves.  In their first match of the season Zeeland West walked away with a 6-2 victory in a non-conference match.  The Dux were lead to the win with victories by Victoria Moore at 2 singles, Callie DeMann at 4 Singles, Olivia Creevy/Maggie Sims at 1 Doubles, Alyssa Smith/Katie Sims at 2 doubles, Riley Hughes/McKenna Schafer at 3 Doubles, and Erin Vriezema/Abby O'Connell at 4 doubles.  The Dux will not have another match until after spring break where they will host Reeths Puffer on Monday, April 9.
