Zeeland Boys Swim and Dive defeated Forest Hills Northern 102.5-80.5 on Tuesday, February 11 at the Zeeland Natatorium.

The meet was full of energy and emotions. Due to it being senior night, the stands were packed, adding great energy to the meet.

Coach Andrew Scheerhorn commented, “I’m glad we were able to celebrate our seniors, they’ve done a lot for the program. This was a conference meet so winning it was a great thing as well. Capping it off with a couple of pool records from Owen Stevens was really awesome to see too. His hard work is never questioned, his discipline is amazing, he's taken it this far, and being able to set those pool records was really cool to see.”

Sr. Owen Stevens set pool records in the 200 IM and the 500 Free. The 200 Medley Relay of Andrew Pyle, Owen Stevens, Keagan Louwerse, and Nolan Stevens set a Zeeland West record.

Owen Stevens shared, “I put a tech suit on to try and get a couple of pool records and I got them. I wasn’t necessarily feeling the best going into it but I just mentally locked in and did my best and ended up getting both of those records and I felt good in the water too.”

Zeeland Varsity Boys Swim and Dive took a close win against Holland christian 91-92 on January 30th at the Zeeland Natatorium. 

The meet was close the whole time down to the final relay, there was lots of tension which led to a lot of great swims and energy in the pool.

Coach Scheerhorn said,”This was the closest meet we had all season, and being able to show up and race to the finish is exciting for everyone.”

Soph. Gibson Meyering secured himself another state cut by qualifying in the 100 fly. The meet was filled with a lot of personal best times from the team.

Soph. Hudson Kosten said, Though I didn't get a personal best, it was a really fun meet and very close.”

Zeeland Varsity Boys Swim and Dive beat NorthView on January 23rd at the Zeeland natatorium by a score of 104-81 

Coach Scheerhorn said,”After all of the snow days it's hard to know where we are, yet we had some really good races and it's nice to get a win against one of the teams in our conference. ”

Soph. Gibson Meyering got a MISCA cut in the 500 free and Soph. Branton  Posthumus got a MISCA cut in the 100 backstroke.

Sr. Lucas Dattels said , “We had a harder aerobic set before this meet, but we persevered through and did really well.”

Zeeland Boys Swim and Dive beat Jenison 101-76 on Tuesday, January 7 at the Zeeland Natatorium.

Zeeland took an early lead which led them to a strong finish and a win over Jenison. Zeeland dominated in most events.

Coach Andrew Scheerhorn commented, “The harder we work, the luckier we get. This was our first in-conference dual meet so it was fun to line up and see where we are so far within the conference. We swam hard and swam fast and we’re tired so it's a good setup for the rest of the season.”

Sr. Eli Elders and Soph. Gibson Meyering both swam MISCA cuts in the 100 freestyle. Fr. Max Lewis finished first in diving.

Soph. Gibson Meyering added, “I did really good today. I did the 200 IM and swam a great PR, I did the 100 free and went a 49.7 which was an in-season PR. I also did the 50 back and 50 free in relays and did really well in those too.”

Zeeland won 8 of the 12 events and showed great depth at the meet against EGR. Zeeland won 105 to 80. Next up is Thursday at West Ottawa.
