Zeeland Varsity Boys Water Polo lost 14-7 to Jenison/Grandville Saturday, October 26 at the Zeeland Natatorium.
Zeeland played a close game in the first half. However, they fell behind in the second half and ended with a tough loss.
Coach Zac Geschwendt said, “That was a tough game but we still have next week.”
Zeeland’s 7 goals came from 7 different players! Boys from each grade scored and contributed to the final score.
Soph. Andrew Skaggs said, “The first quarter we played them pretty tight, we started to die out in the third quarter, and the fourth quarter ended up being more of a JV game which was fun for those kids to get some playing time.”

Zeeland Waterpolo lost 11-8 to Hudsonville Wednesday, October 9 at the Zeeland Natatorium.
Zeeland was behind from the start but caught up scoring 4 out of 8 goals in the final quarter.
Coach Zac Geschwendt admitted, “We struggled at times on offense.”
Keagan Louwerse led Zeeland with 3 goals. Will Posthumus had 2 goals.
Keagan Louwerse said. “We started off slow but worked together as a team to come back.”
Zeeland Water Polo defeated West Ottawa 15-5 Wednesday, September 25 at the Zeeland Natatorium.
Zeeland played well and by the end of the first half they mericed West Ottawa resulting in a shorter second half.
Coach Zac Geschwendt said, “We played well and had high percentage shots leading us to mercy them in the second half, giving the younger guys a chance to play some varsity minutes.”
Sr. Tanner Barber said, “We played well and didn’t play down to our opponents.”
Zeeland Boys Waterpolo beat West Ottawa 14-4 Saturday, September 21 at the Zeeland Natatorium.
Zeeland took the lead early in the game and held their ground the entire time. By the end of the second quarter, Zeeland mercied West Ottawa and moved to shorter quarters.
Coach Zac Geschwendt said, “We played a team that we know that we can play well against and we did. We shot confidently and put the ball in the back of the net consistently.”
Soph. Carson Durham explained, “Our passes were better than before and our shots were more on point.”
Zeeland High School boys varsity water polo defeated East Kentwood 14-7 on September 16 at Zeeland Natatorium. Coach Zac Geschwendt said, “We capitalized our opportunities and got a very good lead.” Sr. Will Posthumous scored three backhands. Zeeland took an early lead but East Kentwood battled back after half. Zeeland kept them at bay and took home another win. Sr. Eli Elders said, “This is one of the best games we have had this season on defense and offense.”

The boys polo squad had their home opener tonight, falling to #5 East Grand Rapids 11-6. Netting goals for the boys were Keagan Louwerse (2), Gibson Meyering (1), Will Posthumus (2) Branton Posthumus (1), and Carson Durham (1). Newly minted goaltender, Eli Elders, posted 6 saves. Will Posthumus lead the boys with 6 takeaways, assists (2) and drawn penalties (1).
The boys fought through the end in a very tough opening game against the Pioneers.
The team is back in action again Monday v West Ottawa.

The boys water polo team fell to the #4 Rockford Rams in the first conference match up of the season 10-14. Scoring for the Chix and Dux were Keagan Louwerse (4), Will Posthumus (4), and Carson Durham. Branton Posthumus lead the team with four steals while his brother, Will, led the team in drawn exclusions with three.
It was a tough game in a cold pool (the boiler stopped working), but the team kept fighting back from multiple goal deficits to keep the game competitive.
The team has a quick turnaround with another OK Rainbow game this Wednesday vs. the #5 East Grand Rapids Pioneers.
