The Dux improved to 8-2 on the season and 3-1 in conference after a 69-53 win at Mona Shores on Tuesday night. Myles Steffen was leading scorer with 15 points, Merritt Alderink added 14, Khi Anderson chipped in 11, Deklen Klamt had 8. Trenten Bolhouse had 7 points. Trevor Wallar and Orion Yant with 6. Brady Westfiled added 2 points. The Dux made eight threes. Orion Yant took two charges as well! The Dux will travel to Reeths Puffer on Friday night for a girl/guy double header.

Dux defeat Chix 53-41

The Dux took on the Chix last night in the first round of the Bird Bowl for basketball in 2023. It was a tight game throughout the first quarter with two guys doing nearly all the scoring for their teams. Lane Risdon had all 10 points for the Chix in the first and Luke Bakker had seven of the Dux 12 points. The game stayed tight throughout the second quarter with the Dux taking a 25-20 lead at the half. The Dux Had a big third quarter from Merritt Alderink scoring 8 points as the Dux made a run to stretch the lead to over 10 points at one time, but the Chix were able to cut it to 8 at the end of the third. The Dux struggled to put the Chix away while struggling from the free throw line, but completed the win by a final score of 53-41. Coach Klyn told reporters after the game that he felt, "This was the most mature win of the last two years. We weren't clicking on all cylinders on offense, but we continued to play under control and competed on the defensive end of the court." He also said, "Players like Brady Westfield, Orion Yant, and Lincoln Jipping did a great job all week preparing us for the Chix style of play and made a huge difference in the win tonight." The Dux will host the Holland Dutch on Tuesday night in the Swamp. The Dux are now 6-1 overall and 1-0 in conference.

Win: 61.00 - 52.00
The Dux (1-0) opened their season in front of a large Swamp student section on Friday night and pulled off a 61-52 win over West Ottawa. (0-2) Zeeland West got off to an early lead of 7-2 before West Ottawa came back to make it a two point game at the quarter break, 19-17. Merritt Alderink flushed an alley oop in transition that was put right on the money by Trevor Wallar to get the crowd going early. The second half was back and forth and a defensive struggle with West holding on to a 30-28 lead at the half. The Panthers came out strong in the second half to take a 36-35 lead, but the Dux responded with a timely three from Deklen Klamt and big basket after big basket from Merritt Alderink who helped the Dux to a 46-39 lead after three. Z. West could never shake the scrappy and hard nosed Panthers all night, but were able to hold onto a 9 point win. The Dux are a full week before they play a double header next Friday and Saturday when they host Holland Christian at the Swamp on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and follow it up with a Saturday afternoon matinee at Hamilton High School at 3:00 p.m.
