The girls got off to a great start and took 1st place at their first tournament of the year. The girls bowled well in both individual games 716 and 785. They continued to bowl well in the baker games and had a clean game of 202. They qualified 2nd just behind a strong Unity Christian team.
The girls defeated the 7th seed West Catholic in the first round before finding themselves in a real battle against Kent City in the second round. Thanks to some timely strikes by Morgan Smith and Skylar Beverwyk in the 9th and 10th the girls were able to move on a face the number 1 seed Unity Christian.
In the finals, Zeeland took the first game by 6 pins and never looked back and won the second taking home the first place plaque.
Honors go out to Alyssa Fortney for being first place on the All tournament team and high scores of 187.
Zeeland boys bowled really well in singles and were on top of the qualifying board. In the baker games it took a great 254 baker game by Unity Christian to put them slightly ahead of Zeeland going into the step ladder finals.
Zeeland bowled a South Christian team that got hot at the right time and a couple costly missed spares doomed the boys team in the first round.
Zeeland qualified with 2740 total pins, almost 300 more than 3rd place.
Zach Baum was named to the All Tournament team and had a high score of 198.
Kyle Lambright also had a high game of 193 and just missed the all tournament team.
