The Zeeland Women's Varsity Water Polo Team defeated EGR on Tuesday night 7-1.  It was the first home game and Conference game for the team.  The win raised the team's record to 4-1 (1-0 Conference).

The first half was a Defensive struggle with Zeeland leading 3-0 on goals from Sarah Houtman, Madi Duquette, and Jenna Schrotenboer.  EGR began the second half with a quick goal pulling it to 3-1 before Rylie Toth scored followed by Schrotenboer again and Katie Agar in a 2:30 span to help put the game out of reach.  Toth added her second goal in the fourth to round out the scoring.

Defensively, Morgan Beers played outstanding in goal and made 11 saves.  Rylie Toth led the team with 8 steals, Madi Duquette made 2 field blocks and Jenna Schrotenboer drew 2 exclusions.

"We played like a team that has only had 5 practices tonight, but I was very happy with how the girls responded to our in game changes.  Last year, we may have folded when East scored that first game, but our senior leadership helped to keep us on track.  This was a great team win." Coach Vruggink
