After an emotional Senior Night pregame presentation, including a Mother-Son photo shoot, the Jenison/Zeeland Hockey team came out with a 5-1 win versus West Catholic. This was their last regular season game and they did not disappoint. The first goal went to Jackson Bolthouse in the first period with assists by Brandon Veltema and Nick Rathsack. West Catholic scored near the end of the second period to tie it up 1-1. Nick Rathsack was able to put in an unassisted, shorthanded goal and the period ended 2-1. Early in the third another goal was scored - credit was not definite, but both Veltema and Bolthouse were involved. Nate Werley had a shorthanded, breakaway goal unassisted, and Jackson Terpstra put one in with assists by Anthony Mollica and RJ Rathsack. Final Score Jenison/Zeeland-5 West Catholic-1. Senior Cade Elliott was in the net for the win.
Thanks to all family and friends who came to support our seniors and their families last night. A special thank you to Mrs. Huizenga and Mrs. Koole-McCarty who were honored this week by two of our seniors for teacher appreciation and attended the game.
The team will need all the cheering it can get this Friday night, March 1, as they play their first play-off game. The opponent is yet to be determined but will either be West Ottawa or Hudsonville. ***Game time is at 5 PM at Kentwood High School Ice Arena***
