Zeeland West vs Holland Conference Meet

Zeeland West Boys and Girls Track and Field both won in their first outdoor meet of the season against conference competitor Holland Wednesday, April 13, 2023. 

Final boys score was ZW 119.5, Holland 17.5

Final girls score was ZW 104, Holland 33

For many of the 78 athletes on the Dux, it was their first High School meet ever. The same was true for many of the 43 Lady Dux.

Some of the notable performances on the boys side:

• Senior Skyler Geurink set a personal record (PR) and won the open 100 meter dash against a strong southern headwind with a time of 11.19, ZW’s Parker Holman and Rolando Robelin helped complete the sweep finishing 2nd and 3rd.

• Skyler also won the open 200 meter dash with a time of 23.11, with Parker claiming 2nd.

• Skyler also won the open 400 meter dash with a time of 52.27, Dux completed the sweep with Colten Ruster, and Wyatt Boerson finishing 2nd and 3rd.

• Winning the 800 meter run was Andrew Kraft with a time of 2:07

• Sweeping the 1600 meter run was Chase Holwerda with a personal record of 4:27, Caleb Smith with a PR of 4:33, and Nathan Golding with a time of 4:47.

  • The Dux had 19 athletes run under 6 minutes.

• The Dux swept the 3200 meter run. Caleb Smith 10:10. Chase Holwerda 10:35, and Robert Dodd 10:35.

  • Dux had 13 athletes run under 13 minutes.

• Sophomore Keaton Hendricks finishes first in the 110 High Hurdles with a PR time of 16.3, Trevor Waller finishes a close 2nd.

• Keaton Hendricks finishes first in the 300 Hurdles with a PR time of 41.78, Trevor finishes 2nd. 

• Dux won the 4x100, 4x200, and 4x800 relay.

• Dux swept the Shot. Luke Bosma finishes first with a throw of 42’6. Luke Hulsman, and Alex McGruder finished 2nd and 3rd.

• Dux swept the top 6 spots in Disc. Luke finished first with 119’9, Carson Arnould 2nd, and Evan Walters 3rd. 

• Andrew Kraft wins High Jump with a PR jump of 5’10. Brady Westfield finishes 2nd with jump of 5’8

• Colton Ruster wins Pole Vault with jump of 12’6

• Parker Holman jumps a PR with 21’5 to win High Jump.

  • Dux have 6 athletes jump over 19 feet.

Some of the notable performances on the girls side:

• Winning the open 200 meter dash was Avari Peddie with a time of 27.61

• Winning the open 400 meter dash was Greta Hondorp with a time of 1:04.95

• Winning the 800 meter run was Jordyn Klaasen with a time of 2:29.78

• Winning the 1600 meter run was Bella Hoffer with a time of 5:24.36

• Sweeping the 3200 meter run for the Lady Dux was Bella Hoffer, time of 12:26, Steph Dodd, and Emy Smith.

• Kendal Ruster wins the 100 High Hurdles with a personal record time of 18.52, Claire Story finishes second.

• Lindsey Peterson and Amaya Brott finish 2nd and 3rd in the 300 Hurdles.

• Dux won all 4 relay events.

  • 4x100 relay included Jordin Robelin, Kendall Ruster, Grace Roossien, and Adelyn Oberst.

  • 4x200 relay included Jodin Robelin, Lindsey Peters, Avari Peddie, and Kendall Ruster.

  • 4x400 relay included Avari Peddie, Greta Hondorp, Evie Kleinheksel, and Jordyn Klaasen.

  • 4x800 relay included Greta Hondorp, Emy Smith, Steph Dodd, and Evi Kleinheksel.

• Sweeping the first 4 spots in Shot were Isabel Assink, throwing a PR of 36’2, Lee Ramirez, Anna Loeprich, and Maggie VanDoeselaar.

• Sweeping the top 4 spots in Disc were Lee Ramirez with a throw of 99’8, Isabel Assink, Anna Loeprich, and Abby Brinks.

• Finishing 2nd and 3rd in High Jump was Hana Hescott with a jump of 4’8 and Claire Story with a jump of 4’6

• Sweeping the top 4 spots in Pole Vault were Lindsey Peterson with a jump of 9’6, Steph Dodd, Alex Payne, and Ella Smith.

• Sweeping long jump was Avari Peddie with a PR jump of 16’7, Jordin Robelin with a PR jump of 15’0 and Hana Hescott.

Dux will compete this Saturday in the Caledonia Soderman Relays.
