The Lady Dux track and field team finished the week with a 3-0 dual meet record and also set two school records along the way. On Tuesday, the Lady Dux defeated Hamilton by a score of 79-58. The meet was highlighted by Olivia Kraft's new school record in the discus of 134'3. She surpassed the previous record held by Casey Shillito of 132'3" that was set in 2008. Event winners for the Lady Dux were Emilie Wilson in the 400 (1:03.28), Brinley Schenk in the 1,600 (5:35.28), Julia Babinec in the 100 hurdles (16.07) and 300 hurdles (50.10), Olivia Kraft in the shot put (37'7"), and Shanna Han in the long jump (15'3.5"). The Lady Dux also took three of four relays with the 4 x 800 team of Brinley Schenk, Avery Schenk, Olivia Weenum, and Emilie Wilson (10:16.81), the 4 x 100 team of Shanna Han, Alyssa Ortiz, Emily Tummel, and Tara Achterhof (52.08), and the 4 x 400 relay team of Emilie Wilson, Avery Schenk, Cat LaPorte, and Brinley Schenk with a time of 4:21.08.
On Thursday the Lady Dux defeated Holland Christian by a score of 81-56 and Byron Center by a score of 103-34. Olivia Kraft set another school record, however this time it was in the shot put. Olivia's throw of 38' surpassed the previous mark of 37'11" set by Amy Overway in 2015. Other event winners for the Lady Dux were Tara Achterhof in the 100 meters (13.16) , Shanna Han in the 200 (28.22) and the long jump (15'4"), Julia Babinec in the 100 (16.86) and 300 hurdles (51.67), Olivia Kraft in the shot put (38') and discus (122'3"), Emily Tummel in the pole vault (8'6"). The Lady Dux also won the 4 x 100 relay (Emma Daniels, Alyssa Ortiz, Emily Tummel, and Tara Achterhof) with a time of 53.67 and the 4 x 200 relay (Julia Babinec, Alyssa Ortiz, Shanna Han, and Tara Achterhof) with a time of 1:51.22.
The three wins this week move the Lady Dux to 5-0 in the OK Green. The Lady Dux are one meet ahead of both second place teams Hamilton and Zeeland East. The Lady Dux will take on Zeeland East in an OK Green showdown on Monday at Zeeland Stadium to finish out the conference season.
