The JV girls basketball team defeated their rivals from Zeeland East on Monday night, 44-29.

West got off to a slow start in the first quarter, missing several open layups and lacking energy on the defensive side of the ball. However, this game was about runs. Trailing 1-3 in the final minutes of the first quarter, West would use two layups in the final minute to take a 7-3 lead after one. However East would fight back, using 9-2 run to take a 12-10 lead midway through the 2nd Q. West again would close a quarter strong, using a 9-0 run to close out the half, taking a 19-12 lead going into halftime. West would pull away in the third, using a 20-5 quarter to take a 39-17 lead into the fourth. 

Maddie Settlemyre led the team in scoring with 16 points. Abigail Eckert chipped in with 9.

Tia Martinez dominated the game defensively in the 3rd Quarter allowing west to pull away.

Lexi Ortiz provided a huge spark off the bench in the third quarter.
