The Dux varsity soccer team fell to the #1 seed Mona Shores in the second round of the conference tournament, 1-3. The Dux battled valiantly in the first half, but conceded a goal with 90 seconds to go before the break. Mona Shores added 2 goals to go up 3-0. Rylee Terpstra scored the lone goal for the Dux with about 15 minutes left in the match. The Dux had 3 quality chances to edge closer in the final 10 minutes, but the Mona Shores keeper made the necessary saves.

"Despite the outcome, our girls battled a very explosive offensive opponent tonight. Mona Shores has speed and skill up top. Our back defensive line (Abby Habers, Ally Yonker, Jordyn Klaasen, Kayla Wyrick, Amarra Blattner and Samantha VanDort) held up most of the night. They finished more chances than we did tonight. Samarah Arendsen played outstanding in net. Our midfield was able to move the ball and we did generate some really good chances in the attacking third. Tons of energy from our forwards tonight - Marissa Ybarra, Georgia Kuyers, Rachel McFall, Emma Boersma and Gloria Maria Cordeiro De Souza all played well. Really proud of the effort and energy from our whole team tonight."

The Dux will wrap up conference tournament play on Monday when they play Zeeland East. The two teams tied 0-0 earlier in the season and are currently tied for 3rd on the OK Green final standings. It promises to be a great match!
