The Dux varsity soccer team traveled to East Grand Rapids for their final regular season non-conference match against the Pioneers. EGR scored first but the Dux rallied back to tie the score 1-1 with about 15 minutes to go in the first half. Pressure by Marissa Ybarra at the top of the EGR penalty box led to a turnover. After intercepting a pass, Ybarra slid a ball back to Bella Cifuentes who buried the opportunity and shifting the momentum of the match. The Dux nearly took a 2-1 lead after Jordyn Klaasen got in behind the EGR defense along the endline and slid a ball back across to Emma Boersma, but her shot missed the net. EGR took a 2-1 lead into the half.

The Dux surrendered 5 goals in the second half and did not have much of an attacking presence, losing 1-6.

"Really pleased with our energy, effort and execution in the first 40 minutes tonight against a sold EGR team. Our role players really stepped up tonight, picking us up when things started falling apart in the second half. Tonight's match was a tale of two halves. Credit to EGR for a strong finish."

The Dux finish the regular season with a record of 7-4-2. They open Conference Tournament play on Monday, May 15 when they host Grand Rapids Union for Senior Recognition Night!
