The Dux varsity soccer team used a couple of timely corner kicks to defeat Grand Rapids Union, 2-1. Rachel McFall gave the Dux a lead in the first half after finishing her shot through traffic. Union made it interesting by socring the equalizer on a counterattacking breakaway. Fortunately for the Dux, Emma Boersma was in the right place at the right time, finishing her shot off of a corner to secure the win for the Dux.
"Offensively, we possessed much better tonight and connected more passes through the midfield, especially in the first half. For the most part, we were sound defensively and limited them to only a few quality chances. But we did not generate as many chances in the second half and were not as consistent with our decision making. However, we were resilient and were able to capitalize on enough chances to earn the win."
The Dux are 6-1-2 on the season, and return to action tomorrow night when they host Mona Shores for the conclusion of their earlier match that was suspended due to inclement weather. Game time is 5:30pm.
