The girls varsity soccer team travelled to Holland Thursday, leaving with a convincing 5-0 victory over the Dutch. Marissa Ybarra led the scoring with 3 goals, with Amarra Blattner and Rylee Terpstra netting their first goals of the season. Rylee Smith had 3 assists, with Blattner and Brooklyn Geerlings adding an assist each. Samarah Arendsen and Mallory Allen combined for the shutout for the Dux, making 1 save each.

"After our match Tuesday night, we talked about the importance of getting off to a fast start by being aggressive and dictating the pace and style of play, especially in the midfield. Holland has some dangerous players in the middle, so keeping possession and making good decisions on and off the ball were points of emphasis tonight. Defensively, we played with intelligence and poise. Our midfield did an excellent job of keeping the ball moving, and our attack generated multiple quality chances throughout the game. Our off ball movement and anticipation was vastly improved and resulted in us finding the back of the net in both halves."

The Dux improved to 2-0-1 on the season, and are 1-0-1 in conference play. They return to action tomorrow night as they host St. Joseph.
