The Dux hosted the Chix in their first soccer match following spring break, battling to a 0-0 tie. As is typical of a rivalry game, both teams battled for possession throughout the first half, probing and testing the opposing defense. Both teams held the attack at bay, limiting offensive chances and opportunities for much of the first half.

After making adjustments at half, both teams continued trading body blows, carrying long stretches of possession but were unable to find the back of the net. The Dux had 4-5 really good chances to take the lead in the second half, but an unlucky bounce here followed by some spectacular goal keeping by East's goalie kept the score knotted at 0-0. Rylee Smith got in behind the Chix defense on sevarl occasions, delivering quality serves into the box. Amarra Blattner's rocket off a free kick up and over the East wall was saved off the goal line as it was dipping under the crossbar. Brooklyn Geerlings had a one time shot near the top of the box which was blocked, and Jordyn Klaasen dribbled through several defenders into the box before having her shot deflected, with a tap in rebound pushed wide by Rachel McFall. Caiti Grant had an opportunity off of a corner, but her shot was cleared off of the line.

"I thought both teams struggled to find any offensive rhythm during the first half. The surface is a little rough and uneven, which made it difficult to connect and handle passes with any sort of consistency. Both teams made really good adjustments in the second half. East really dominated possession for about 10-15 minutes in the second half. But to our credit, our defense held strong and limited their chances. We settled in and really began exerting more of a midfield presence the final 15-20 minutes of the game which generated some really good scoring chances. We had several good looks at goal, but were a bit unlucky in our finishing. Credit to Claire Bright in net, she made 3-4 phenomenal saves to keep us off the scoreboard. We generated really good chances in the second half, but just couldn't put one in. Despite the lack of scoring, I am pleased with how we managed our game and were able to play through some inconsistency and adversity. Good effort by both teams made it an enjoyable game to be a part of."

Samarah Arendsen made 5 saves in net, earning her first shutout of the season. The Dux are 1-0-1 on the season, and 0-0-1 in the OK Green. They travel to Holland on Thursday to take on the Dutch.
