The Dux varsity soccer team lost a tough match to the Chix on Thursday night, 1-4. The Chix scored 3 goals in the first half before Zoe Grant earned a penalty kick for the Dux. Aaliyah Ybarra converted the PK to make it 1-3 at the half. The Chix added another goal midway through the second half the end the scoring.

"Credit Zeeland East for executing their game plan in the first half. They were able to use their speed to get in behind us a couple of times early and it cost us. Very proud of the resiliency of our kids, especially in the second half. We were much more organized and efficient in the second half and were able to generate some decent spells of possession, generating a couple of chances to close the gap, but just couldn't find the back of the net."

"Leanne Wyrick, Anna Girman, Tia Martinez and Mari Michmerhuizen had their hands full in back for us, but did a good job of limiting their chances and putting out fires. East can be very explosive offensively. Unfortunately for us, they capitalized on those early opportunities and we were unable to recover. Keke Segura also had a strong showing, filling in at center back for Girman, who left the game after a collision on the last goal of the game. While the outcome was a bit disappointing, the match was exciting and intense - like a rivalry game should be - hard fought but with integrity and a mutual respect for one another. I love the energy and effort our kids show day in and day out, as we continue working our way back to competing at the level we were at a couple of weeks ago. I love my team!"

The Dux fall to 2-4-2 and 1-2-1 in the OK Green.
