The Dux girls varsity soccer team ended the regular season with a 0-0 draw at Byron Center, the outright OK Green Conference champions. The game was competitive from the start, with both teams fighting for possession in the midfield but neither team was able to find the back of the net.

The Dux put lots of pressure on the Byron Center back four throughout the first half, but the Bulldog defense was able to keep the Dux off the scoreboard. "Their keeper made several quality saves in the first half which kept the game scoreless." 

Similarly, the Dux defensive unit of Tally Martinez, Lucy Bouvier, and Leanne Wyrick were tested, but did not give in inch - matching their speed and physicality. "Leanne and Tally both had outstanding games today for us in back and did a really nice job keeping Byron's offensive weapons in check. Lucy kept us organized and covered, and Taylor Twork came up with four critical saves in the second half to earn the shutout."

"Really proud of out kids tonight - we were extremely organized defensively and had good movement offensively against a very good team. To keep them scoreless gives us confidence heading into the state tournament later this week. We matched up well with them tonight - technically, physically, and mentally."

The Dux end the regular season with a record of 8-7-3 (3-6-3 in the OK Green). The Dux open the state tournament on Thursday when they host Zeeland East.
