Lady Dux lost to Zeeland East Tuesday night in a back and forth battle 47-53.  Both teams brought a lot of energy off the bat in the rivalry match up.  The Dux were sparked in the 1^st quarter offensively by Marcy Creevy hitting 2 of her 5 3s of the night, but the Dux were still down going into the 2^nd 8-14.

The Dux made some great adjustments in the 2^nd quarter and Maddie Settlmeyre went to work in the post scoring 6 of her 12 points in the 2^nd.   The Dux battled back to take the lead with 15 seconds left in the half , but a last minute turn over allowed East to go coast to coast in transition to tie up the game at 25 a piece going into half.

Lady Dux came out of the half with great ball movement and the rest of the game was continuously back and forth on the scoreboard between the Chix and Dux.

Down the stretch the Dux were down by 1 with just over a minute remaining.  A couple missed shots and rebounds were crucial mistakes down the stretch the Dux were forced to foul to stop time.  Chix knocked down their free throws to take the game just out of the Dux reach.

“Our girls battled so hard tonight, but some costly errors down the stretch were the difference makers.  That is what happens in tight games though.  Whatever team takes care of it down the stretch usually comes out on top.   It was a great experience and competitive game for us to be in.   The girls continue to get better every game.   We are excited to continue this growth into our game on Thursday”, said Coach Ross

Dux were led offensively by Marcy Creevy with 20points including 5 three pointers, Maddie Settlemyre with 12points, 8 rebs and 3 blks.   Aaliyah Ybarra did a great job handling the defensive pressure and also added 8 points and 3 assts.
