ZEELAND EAST HIGH SCHOOL: 33
The Dux held on to win late against Zeeland East on Friday night 41-33. After being held scoreless in the 1st, the Dux opened up the 2nd quarter with a 3 by Kaylee Bakker to spur the Dux offensively.
The Dux then led at halftime 15-9. Maddie Settlemyre gave the Dux some much needed buckets in the 3rd quarter with assists from Tally Martinez.
Chix were going for a late run but the Lady Dux were able to take care of the ball and force the Chix to foul where Martinez was clutch from the line going 9 for 10 in the 4th.
Martinez led all scoring with 12. Freshman Kara Bartels stepped up and added 11.
Great first conference win for the Dux!
