Lucas Smith showed timely hitting on Friday, driving in five on two hits to lead Zeeland West Freshman Dux past Caledonia Freshman Fighting Scots 12-2 on Friday.  Smith drove in runs on a double in the third, a single in the fourth, and a wild pitch in the fifth.

In the bottom of the second inning, Caledonia Freshman Fighting Scots tied things up at one.  Jacob Lencioni's wild pitch allowed one run to score for Caledonia Freshman Fighting Scots.

Zeeland West Freshman Dux pulled away for good with four runs in the third inning.  In the third Smith doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring three runs and an error scored one run for Zeeland West Freshman Dux.

Zeeland West Freshman Dux tallied five runs in the fourth inning.  Lencioni, Smith, Alex Rotman, and Saige Merfeld each drove in runs during the inning.

Lencioni earned the victory on the mound for Zeeland West Freshman Dux. The hurler surrendered two runs on four hits over five innings, striking out five and walking one.

Zeeland West Freshman Dux collected nine hits.  Smith, Carson Nash, and Rotman each racked up multiple hits for Zeeland West Freshman Dux.  Rotman, Nash, and Smith each collected two hits to lead Zeeland West Freshman Dux.  Zeeland West Freshman Dux was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Smith made the most plays with  four.
