Both teams were strong on the mound on Monday, but Unity Christian Crusaders Freshman was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over Zeeland West Freshman Dux on Monday. Koen Rutkauskas started the game for Zeeland West Freshman Dux and recorded 15 outs.
Zeeland West Freshman Dux got things moving in the first inning, when Caden Brouwer induced Rutkauskas to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.
Brouwer was the winning pitcher for Unity Christian Crusaders Freshman. Brouwer surrendered two runs on two hits over five innings, striking out eight.
