The JV Dux used a 22-2 run in the first half on their way to a 44-24 victory over Unity Christian on Thursday night. The run could be attributed to a combination of defensive intensity and offensive unselfishness.

"As soon as we turned up our energy, good things started to happen," Coach Ray said. "It would have been nice to come out from the beginning with the energy that got us the lead, but I'm happy we found it sooner rather than later."

Drew Weenum ('22) was the leading scorer with 12 points. Nine other Dux contributed to the box score, including Kylan Arnold ('22) with seven, Bergen Loeprich ('22) with six, and Cade Overweg ('22) with five points. 

"I love our team's ability to share the ball, leading to so many guys scoring," Coach Ray said. "It starts on the defensive end, though. We made them uncomfortable all night. Unity made some great adjustments that challenged us, but our guys were able to adjust as well on the fly."

The Dux will finish off the first round of conference play on Tuesday, January 28 when they travel to Byron Center. The freshmen team will play at 4:00pm, with the JV Dux to follow at 5:30pm. Varsity will play around 7:00pm.
