The JV Dux lost a heartbreaker on the road to Zeeland East on Thursday, by a score of 37-40. In a game that was back-and-forth throughout, the Dux had a chance to tie at the buzzer, but Trevor Wallar's ('23) three-point attempt rimmed out. It would have been the team's first 3-point field goal of the contest.

"Sometimes, things do not always go your way," Coach Ray said. "Tonight, it seemed like there was a lid on the basket. Zeeland East did a lot of great things that made it tough on us. However, I still have to give credit to our team for having a chance at the end."

Drew Weenum ('22) led the team with 12 points, while Bergen Loeprich ('22) had nine points and Mitch Middleton ('22) had six points. 

"As much as it hurts to lose, this game opened our eyes to things that we need to continue to improve upon, first and foremost being our toughness on defense and the glass," Coach Ray said. "Every possession, every rebound, every 50/50 ball is important in a game. Zeeland East wanted it more than we did tonight."

The Dux hope to end their two-game losing skid on Tuesday, January 14 against Holland Christian. The game will take place after the freshman game, around 5:30pm at the Holland Civic Center.
