The Zeeland West boys JV team lost in the first round of the Cornerstone Holiday Tournament, 43-57 to Covenant Christian. The Dux were able to cut the lead to four a few times, and were only down six heading into the 4th quarter. However, Covenant Christian was able to hold off any potential comeback. 

"While Covenant has an excellent JV team, I feel like our lack of consistent effort was the biggest factor in our loss," Coach Ray said. "We got away from doing things the West Way. If we play the way we are capable of playing, I think this is a closer game. All of the credit goes to Covenant for forcing us to make uncharacteristic mistakes on both ends of the floor."

The Dux will face Wayland in the consolation game on December 28. 

"I fully expect our effort and energy to be at a different level on Saturday," Coach Ray said. "If we get back to doing things the West Way, we will look like a completely different team."
