The JV Boys basketball team held on for a 52-45 victory over Coopersville JV on Tuesday, December 17. After taking a 47-23 lead into the 4th quarter, Coopersville began chipping away at the lead, but ultimately the Dux stifled the comeback.

"The 4th quarter was bittersweet," Coach Ray said. "It was great that we held on for the victory, finding at least one poised possession at the end. But we need to take more pride as a team in playing crisp, strong, and together, and I need to do a better job of preparing us to do so."

The Dux were led by Cade Overweg ('22) with 15 points, 10 of those coming in the 2nd quarter. Kylan Arnold ('22) had 15 points as well, while Drew Weenum ('22) contributed eight.

"I thought Cade was our sparkplug tonight," Coach Ray said. "He shot the ball with confidence, and made great off-ball cuts. Our guys were able to find him in scoring positions."

In all, nine Dux scored at least one point, and the team hit nine 3-pointers. 

"We shot the ball extremely well, which I think is a credit to our ball movement, and our off-ball movement," Ray said. "Quite frankly, the defensive side is what concerned me the most. We gave up 22 points in the 4th quarter after holding them to 23 points through three quarters. I need to do a better job preparing our guys to play a full 32 minutes."

The Dux will be back on the court Thursday, December 26 for the Cornerstone Holiday Tournament, where they will face a tough Covenant Christian team.
