BYRON CENTER HIGH SCHOOL: 31

The Dux capped off their JV season with a total team victory, defeating the Byron Center JV team by a score of 45-31. Starting for the first time all season, Brenden Williams, Luke Henry, Cam Schuessler, Adrian Arcuri, and Peyton Arendsen got the team off to a great start, and the Dux never looked back. Williams had 8 points in the first half, including two 3-pointers. Henry tallied a season-high 7 points, including two up-and-under post moves. Arcuri hit a big 3 in the second half to keep the Bulldogs at bay. "This was the best possible way our season could have ended, with us playing our most complete game offensively, defensively, and from an energy standpoint," Coach Ray said. "Every single player made a considerable contribution tonight. I could not be more proud." Nick Powers came off the bench to score 8 points, while guards Terick DeJonge, Joe Steele, Jake Kender, and Walter Bouvier provided patient offense and lock-down defense. Carter DeJonge and Avery Alderink provided excellent rebounding and energy all night long. "It felt like we were the first to every loose ball and every rebound," Coach Ray said. "Our bench exploded with every made basket. That energy is contagious. When a team plays hard together for 32 minutes, great things happen." With a minute to go, Caden Blackburn made his JV debut, grabbing one rebound and attempting one free throw. "Caden had been a manager for us for the first 18 games of the season. He earned the opportunity to wear the green and gold and suit up with his teammates for this game." Finishing the season with a 9-10 record, the Dux made tremendous improvements all season long. "I am excited to see these 13 guys grow as basketball players, students, and men over the coming years," Coach Ray said. "This season was one to remember."
