After more than a week off due to inclement weather, the JV Dux were back on the court Monday against their rival, the Zeeland East Chix. Looking to avenge a 49-53 loss earlier in the season, the Dux came out with passion. Paced by Walter Bouvier, the Dux shot the ball well, knocking down some timely 3-pointers, especially in the 4th quarter. At one point, the Chix held a 39-32 advantage in the 4th quarter, but a 13-0 run, including 3's from Bouvier, Terick DeJonge, and Avery Alderink, gave the Dux a 6-point lead. "The level of confidence that we played with was awesome to see," Coach Ray said. "We came out with a level of intensity that is hard to find after 6 straight snow days." The Chix, however, did not quit. The 4th quarter ended with the game in a tie. Yet, in the overtime period, the Dux were too much to handle. The game ended with a 56-53 Dux victory, despite 8 missed free throws in the overtime period. Walter Bouvier led the charge with 23 points, including four 3-pointers. The Dux will take on Covenant Christian on Wednesday in a make-up contest.
