The JV Dux turned in their most complete game of the season to date, beating a very tough Hamilton team by a score of 51-33. After giving up 13 points in the first quarter, the Dux clamped down on the defensive end, holding the Hawkeyes to 20 points in the final three quarters combined.

"We were locked in right from the start," Coach Ray said. "Our focus this week in practice was to get off to a good start, talk more as a team, and lock in mentally and physically on defense. We did just that."

Terick DeJonge led a balanced scoring attack, pouring in 15 points. Carter DeJonge sparked the team off the bench with a huge second half, scoring 11 points, including a 4-point play and a buzzer beating lay-up in the third quarter. Jake Kender scored 6 points on the night, but more importantly, provided really tough on-ball defense. Avery Alderink scored 8 points. Defensively, the team finished with six charges as well.

"Guys were flying all over the place on defense," Coach Ray said. "We were jumping to help side, denying passing lanes, and rebounding with a tenacity. This game is a testament to who we are, and who we can be, as a team. I need to give a particular shout out to guys like Peyton Arendsen, Luke Henry, Adrian Arcuri, and Cam Schuessler, who were locked in all night, and came in and finished the game really strong for us."

The Dux will be back on the court Tuesday, January 22 at 5:30pm against Unity Christian.
