The Zeeland West JV Dux closed out 2018 with a come-from-behind victory against Comstock Park. The Dux were down 19-29 at halftime. Brenden Williams was responsible for keeping the Dux in the game in the first half, scoring all 12 of his points in that time, with eight of those coming in the 2nd quarter. Comstock Park used the 3-point line to take the lead at the half. In the second half, the Dux came out with a renewed intensity on the defensive end that then translated into easy buckets on offense. "I am so proud of how the team was focused to make changes at halftime," Coach Ray said. "The players listened to what adjustments needed to be made, and then executed those to perfection in the second half." The Dux pulled within 3 points, 30-33, after the 3rd quarter, holding Comstock Park to only four points. In the fourth, the Dux continued to assert themselves on the defensive end, pushing the lead to 44-35. Comstock Park scored five points in the final minute, but the Dux held on to win. "This second half was more indicative of who we are as a team," Ray said. "I am proud we could close out the year with such an impressive win. Now we need to carry this play over to 2019." Joe Steele and Nick Powers had 9 and 8 points, respectively. Avery Alderink had 6 points in the second half, and Terick DeJonge and Carter DeJonge chipped in 5 points and 4 points. The Dux are back in action on January 4th at Allendale High School.
