Zeeland West Varsity Football beat Zeeland East in the annual Bird Bowl 28-13. With a relatively slow start and a half time score of 6-0, the game kept fans on the edges of their seats. Following halftime the birds flew back and forth but ultimately resulted in a win for the Dux for the 7th year in a row.
Scoring 3 touchdowns in the game, Sr. Keaton Hendricks stated, “In the first half they were right on our heels, but our halftime adjustments really worked out well and that’s what made us come out with the W”. Keaton rushed the ball 10 times for a total of 138 yards during the game. Coach Shillito said he was, “Pleased with the effort. East played a terrific game and I’m really proud of both teams.”
Statistically the game was pretty evenly played with West gaining 301 yards and East gaining 273.
